My Bio: No one was there. No one saw. There wasn’t a sound. There was only a light breeze that brought some ripples to the shore.
The sun fell very slowly from the sky, quietly into the sea. Blue became red and the red disappeared. Stars started rippling across the surface, all the time a new star appearing until the sea and the sky was black with stars. And the sky, being cloudless, seemed like it might go on forever. Even the sea reflected it’s depth.
There wasn’t a moon, just the black that covered everything, illuminating the milkyway. And the silence.
Schools of fishes and fish like things, swam through shards of starlight. It’s a simple thing. By night the sea reflects the sky, and by day the sky reflects the sea. There is nothing inbetween. Only space.
A few thousand miles away, the sun started to reappear behind the mountains. Violent orange and opaque blue, ribboned with pink, started to wash the stars off the sky, like a teacher wiping chalked equations off a blackboard, or like a military force wiping innocent faces off the land. The sky turned blue once more and without clouds, and war machines ploughed through the land, seeking to destroy anything not yet destroyed. Peoples’ screams and the silence of the dead ricochet across the land amidst explosions and gunfire and shouted commands.
People have to die, and they do it very well. Even soldiers return to the earth. The ground is filled with dead people, and they’re piling up on the surface too. The stink is something else, and the prayers go on and on to the heavens, held up in a cueing system where each prayer is put on hold.
