In 1981 the band founded as Queensr˙che was born consisting of Geoff Tate, Vocals, twin guitars, Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton, Bassist Eddie Jackson, and Drummer Scott Rockenfield. In 1982, merely a year old, they released their self-produced, self titled EP debut. After selling over 60,000 albums, record labels were falling all over themselves, to sign the band. EMI was chosen. In 1988 the release of Operation: Mind crime caused rockers all over the world to fall for the band, and the albums chilling story line. It was enormously Popular, but the following album released in 1990, Empire just about edged off the Operation.
Empire’s popularity was Fueled by the hits “Silent Lucidity,” “Jet City Woman,” and “Another Rainy Night (Without You),” the album sold more than four million copies. The next year and a half Queensr˙che went touring non-stop through America, Japan, Europe and South America. Not only that, but They also made live television appearances on the American Music Awards and the 1991 MTV Video awards show where they were awarded the Viewers Choice Award. In the fall of 1991, the band released Operation: Live crime, an in-concert audio/visual recording.
In 1992 Queensr˙che was nominated for another Grammy and they were given the honor of playing live at the Grammy Awards show in NYC.
This may just be the beginning of the career of Queensr˙che but it goes on for quite awhile. They’ve released other albums, of course, but I’m merely naming the ones that set the spotlight.
