Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar), Ed O'Brien (guitar, vocals), Jonny Greenwood (guitar), Colin Greenwood (bass) and Phil Selway (drums) formed Radiohead at Oxford University in 1988. Radiohead was originally called "On a Friday." They changed their name and released their first EP in 1992 called "Drill." This EP helped them get a record deal with EMI and release their first hit single "Creep." A year later they came out with their first full length album, "Pablo Honey." The album went gold after extensive touring in the U.S. and heavy air play of the single "Creep." In 1995 Radiohead came out with their second album, "The Bends," which received rave reviews. However, the record was ignored by the mainstream media and received little television or radio play. In '97 Radiohead release their third album, "OK Computer," a musical masterpiece. Despite critical acclaim it still only achieved moderate sales. It wasn't until "Kid A", their fourth album, was released in 2000 did they achieve great sales. The album debuted at number one on the U.S. charts and met mixed critical reviews. "Amnesiac" was released a year later and debuted at number two on the U.S. charts. This album was made up of tracks from the same sessions as "Kid A." They release "I Might Be Wrong" later that year as a mini live album.
music buddies I’m a huge Radiohead fan and I wanna know as much about him as possible…. I've been out of the loop for awhile so I dunno what's new or what the side projects are....well i take that back i know Thom Yorke is doing some solo experiment. Right??? well, if you guys can up me on more of his and their stuff I would totally appreciate it!!!
Another thing, I intern for Universal Music and am always getting my hands on all sorts of new music like this band from Atlanta [Jil Station] who’s lead singer is only 18 and has a voice similar to Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode. Their cd [Still Love] has that very mellow kinda dark sound to them. I dunno don’t take my word for it listen for yourself at www.jilstation.com and let me know what you think!! Well please don’t forget to share the Radiohead/Thom Yorke music experience with me! Have a great day and hope to hear from you soon!!
