Jeffrey Hyman,Tommy Erdelyi, John Cummings and Douglas Colvin were all born in NYC and met up in Forest Hills High and began to share their love of music. Then the boys decided they would join together and form a band. The name The Ramones came from Paul McCartney's days of the Silver Beatles and used a fake name. Then theboys changed their names too, Jeff becomeing Joey, Gouglas became DeeDee, John became Johnny and Tommy became...TOMMY! They then adopted the last name Ramone. The band lineup was DeeDee on vocals, Johnny on guitar, at the time a guy named Ritchie was bass, but quit so DeeDee became bass. Tommy was acting lie the manager and began to write a few songs. That is when the trend of Iwanna and I dont wanna became popular in their songs. Soon as thwy got there next gig Tommy took u drums so Joey could sing. The band first palyed at CBGB's opening for Blondie. Soon after their gig they took a break casued by injuries and illnesses. They met Lisa Robinson,an editor of a magizine who soon spread the word of their music. In 1975 they played their first big gig opening for Johnny Winter. They were then signed too Seymour Stein's Sire label and began recording. Their album was a success. Then their first hit single was in"Blitzkrieg bop" was a sensation!!! even though the band seemed to have a punk trend of clothing their idols were New York Dolls and Lou Reed. By the time their single had came out,The Sex Pistols had released Anarchy in the UK and punk rock was introduced. A second US single, I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend had been released. They were also working on " I Remember You". "he Ramones Leave Home"was soon to be released. After a US tour they released "Rocket to Russia". The band kept working on their tour as they gained more and more popularity. "Its Alive"was released in 1979. As that album gained success they produced"Rock and Roll High School" a movie about high school students that are in love with the Ramones. End of the century" was recorded after they finished the film. The song "Do You Remember Rock and Roll Radio" was a huge hit. While the punk era was dieing the Ramones put out another album. Pleasant dreams" was a bigger success then expected. The band kept quiet for a while till their next album "Too tough to die" which was prodced by Beggars Banquet . They remained popular in the UK but died out in the US. We will always love them.
