| i think that anyone who categorizes people by something as shallow as the way that they dress probably has some issues that they need to deal with before they start talking about anyone else. if you havent noticed... Really punk, prep, nerd, goth, or what-is-that-persons-name-again-deal is only about your feelings about yourself and others and your life.
Usually people are neards and geeks cause they act real smart and want to show it off but then usually they get picked on. Usually people are goths cause they have had a bad past and there haveing a bad time right now, they usually cant get things sorted out so they take everything out on themselve by hurting them and others. Some people are preps because the think there better than everyone else and there stuck up or there really happy and get alot of attention. There is no such thing as "true punk" anymore, it died back in the 80's.
Todays form of "punk" is pop punk, yes it is the "in" thing thanks to bands like GC but for those who do listen to the old bands and still live the way of punk then it shouldnt bother you. They live their lives, you live yours. If you dont like what you see then dont fucking look.

sellouts or what...Im 23 yrs old, Ive liked
Rancid since I first heard Nihilism off of
their second album "Let's
Go." I know every song Rancid has
produced, whether on the albums or not. But
you know where I first heard of them? on Much
Music, wher their Nihilism video was playing.
So lets see, I've liked rancid for 10 yrs
now, I own all their albums(every Cd, 3
vinyls), their Give em the Boot compilations,
their side projects, their operation Ivy
albums, u name it. I can just about tell u
the entire history of Tim Armstrong and
Rancid. Yet I first heard of them on Much
Music. Does that make me a poser? Does it
mean I'm not punk? Well guess what? I
don't even know what it means to be a
poser, and appearance wise Im sure as hell
not punk. But you know what? I don't
care, and neither should anyone...It's not
about that, its about the music. And if U
actually listened to Rancid you would see
that. Their ideas, Tims lyrics, their ever
growing global vision, everything they have
done has inspired me...so say what u want. I
like music that makes me feel something, and
has strong lyrics attached to it, regardless

I think someone said this before but rancid
was never on MTV. Rancid is clearly punk,
not because of the way they dress but because
of how they are not afraid to experiment and
each of their songs has a different sound.
They don't care what other people think.
(Most fans probably know this) The lead
singer is in another band with Tim Armstrong
and Travis Barker called the Transplants.
And Lars Frederiksen started a band called

Dude, I LOVE Rancid, have for the past 12
years...but I'm sorry, they've been on
MTV and the Canadian equivalent
MuchMusic....In 1995 when they 'broke'
into semi-mainstream spotlight Time Bomb and
Ruby Soho were getting a lot of screntime on
both MTV and Much...hell, MuchMusic even had
a 30minute show called spotlight where they
basically told the story of a band every week
nd played a bunch of their videos...RANCID
APPEARED ON THE SHOW, and Lars and Matt did
an interview for it...They have a video for
Hyena off their first album, a video for
Nihilism and Salvation off their 2nd albu,
Ruby Soho and Time Bomb from their 3rd, Roots
Radicals from the 4th, none from the 5th(like
ANYTHING from the 5th was soft enough to get
playtime, well, maybe Let Me GO, but no) and
Fall Back Down and Red Hot Moon off of the
most recent album..I have seen all of these

was even an autographed picture of madonna in
it to 'sweeten' the deal. Rancid
thought about it, and said NO, we sticking
with our little Epitaph label where we have
artistic freedom...So for their next album
they came up with the title ...And Out Come
the Wolves, more or less as a comment on the
attention and energy the 'Big' labels
put into pursuing them...Disorder and
