Randall William Rhoads was born on December 6th, 1956, being the third and youngest child in his family. Raised by single mother, Delores Rhoads, Randy turned out to be a great person. He started playing acoustic guitar at age 6, where Delores signed him up for lessons. In her own time, she taught Randy to play the piano, so that he'd learn to read music. He began playing electric guitar at age 13 with Delores' old Harmony Rocket. She got Randy a personal guitar teacher, Scott Shelley, and they practiced together until Scott told Delores that he had taught Randy all that he knew. That year, Randy also met his very best friend, Kelly Garni. Kelly wanted to play an instrument because he spent so much time in Randy's musical household, so Randy taught him to play bass guitar. At age 15, Randy and Kelly formed the band Quiet Riot, but they didn't yet have a singer or drummer. When they were at a girl's, Hillary's, house, they heard of a singer called Kevin DuBrow. They asked Kevin over to see how he could sing, but they didn't want him because he was no good. Kevin would not leave them alone, so finally they tried to teach Kevin to sing. During the rest of high school, Randy, Kelly, Kevin and whatever drummer they could find would play parties and small arenas. Finally, in 1978, Quiet Riot put out their first album , only released in Japan. After the release, Kevin fired Kelly and they hired bassist Rudy Sarzo. They put out a second album, also only in Japan, just before Randy was asked to audition for Ozzy Osbourne's band. He didn't much want to go, because as a teenager, he and Kelly would mock Ozzy's former band Black Sabbath. But Rudy forces Randy to go, and Randy got the part of guitarist. Ozzy put out the album "Blizzard of Ozz" in 1980, labelling Randy Rhoads as a guitar god/guitar wizard. In 1981, they put out another album, "Diary of a Madman", this time with Rudy on bass. Soon enough would come the untimely sadness of Randy's death. Randy Rhoads died on March 19th, 1982, between 10 and 10:30 am in a freak plane accident. After that, Rudy returned to Quiet Riot, and Delores was getting a lot of Randy fan mail in at home. It was an extremely sad day, and still, Delores, Doug (Randy's brother), Kathy (Randy's sister) and Kelly visit his grave on his birthday, along with a lot of sad Randy fans. He truly was a guitar god.
