Raquela’s unique vocal style and song writing skills has gotten her seen everywhere including the Copacabana in New York City. Last year she and Chris released FALLING and THIS FIRE OF YOURS which reached the # 1 spot on the Dance Masters World Chart. They continue to work together.
Raquela's 'chart hits' didn't stop there. For two weeks running, Raquela and D'Sential's, "YOU'RE GONE" reached "Number 1" on the Dance chart at i'mgifted.co.uk, after thousands of entries. Recent of all, Raquela teams up with Chicago's legendary, "Godfather of House" music, MICKEY Mixin' OLIVER! This original HOT MIX 5 artist was recently listed in The London Observer as one of the 10 most Influential DJ's of all time. Mickey's new release, "NOTHIN' MORE TO GIVE-feat. Raquela”, has been getting rave reviews and recently this year, Billboard Magazine gave it the ‘Break-Out’ for Club Play.
Raquela’s influences and background:
Raquela’s obsession with dance music really began after seeing a t-shirt that read, "DISCO IS DEAD!" Disco inspired Raquela to venture artistically into different Electronica styles of today. Since experiencing the demise of Disco in the 70's and then the raise of New Wave, Freestyle and House during the 80's, Raquela figured out her reason to write for Dance producers all over the world. As a lyricist and vocalist, Raquela enjoys splicing some of her own life's experience into her music while at the same time exploring emotional fantasy worlds from the past and looking into the future.
Raquela has been compared to Groove Coverage and Felix Da House Cat. But those held responsible for influencing this "uncontrollable artist" would lie in the hands of Donna Summer, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Styx, Rush, Supertramp, ELO, Annie Lennox, Pink Floyd, New Order, Aqua, Deee-Lite, B-52's and Earth Wind and Fire. |
