Robert Plant was born on August 20,1948 in Stafforshire. He was raised in a family where there was little music education. Around the age of sixteen his parents wanted him to become an accountant. Robert at this time was into Elvis and other early rock n' roll artists. Plant started in the band the Crawling King Snakes and recorded a few singles for CBS Records. It wasen't until the Band Of Joy did Robert meet John Bonham, their talented and loud drummer. Around 1968 the Yardbirds broke up and Jimmy Page was searching to put a "supergroup" together. He first contacted fellow studio musician John Paul Jones to play bass and now he was looking for a singer. Page saw Plant one night in a club and at this time PLant was dubbed the Wildman of the blues. Jimmy was amazed at his vocal style and asked him to join. Robert than recomended Bonham to be their drummer. They toured as the New Yardbirds in Scandinavia and then named Led Zeppelin. The band recorded thier debut album in two weeks and went on tour to promote their hot material. Led Zeppelin would become the hottest band of the 70's and record some of the greatest music rock has ever heard. The band still suffered their share of tragedy. In 1977 Plant's son, Karic died of a viral infection. His death inspired the song "All My Love" and later "I Believe". John Bonham died in 1980 and ended Led Zeppelin. 2 years later Plant released his first solo album, Pictures at Eleven a keyboard pop rock album that met with decent reviews. He followed up a year later with Principals of Movement which produced the hit "In the Mood". A tour followed and showed Plant's power as a solo artist. Shaken n' Stirred would follow but Plant hit his stride with Now and Zen where Jimmy Page played guitar on Heaven Knows and Tall Cool One which features riffs from Zeppelin songs, Plant was begining to embrace his past. Manic Nirvana came in 1990 then in 1993 Plant release Fate of Nations argueably his best solo effort with the songs "I Believe" and "29 Psalms". In 1994 PLant teamed up with Jimmy page for two Page and Plant albums and a sold out world tour.
