The band Rock Bottom has been in existence for approximately three years. The band is composed of five members, all from the Rolling Fork area. Rodney Joiner, the band’s lead guitarist, has been playing the guitar for more than 25 years. He grew up in rural Issaquena county and began playing the guitar at an early age. When Rodney is not playing the guitar, he can be found running his business, Joiner AC & Heating. Rob Bussey, drummer, is one of two brother in Rock Bottom and is said to be one of the more impressive musicians of the band. Although he has only played the drums for several years it is hard to make people believe it. Bassist Dusty Cooper is the youngest member of the band and adds a musical outlook only a person his age could give. Dusty is an all around musician who studied music in college. Quinton Goss, an great rhythm guitarist and singer, was added to the band to extend the potential of Rock Bottom. Quinton’s country vocals add a much needed side to a primary rock band. The last member of the band is James Shannon Bussey. He is known to fill in the cracks. Shannon sings, plays lead and rhythm guitar, as well as the harmonica. The members of Rock Bottom range in age from 22 to 40. They have a wide spectrum of musical influence and it comes out in their performances. A Rock Bottom set list can include everything from Neil Young to Prince and Nirvana to Merle Haggard. The band has played in several large venues for as many as two or three thousand people. Rock Bottom holds several records for attendance in various clubs throughout the Mississippi Delta.
