Though many old-school rockers remain content to plod through tired riffs and scream versus sing in boy-meets-girl songs, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX based Rock of the Ages (RotA) goes about presenting their particular brand of music with a little bit of hope mixed right in.
RotA's latest album echoes of the past and better days of rock and metal with a certain freshness on topics such as the state of politics, personal neglect, complacency, new hopes and dreams, taking risks, and messages about being different and still being comfortable in your own skin. The band's wide array of grooves combined with slamming beats, chunky textures, power riffs and melodic prowess compliment the often intense and hook-laden lyrics, which range vocally from breathy yet brooding to volcanic and aggressive. |
