The CD "ALTERNATIVE BLUES" was recorded in Chicago, Ill. during 2002 and 2003; and was released on my own label "DIGITONE MUSIC" during 2005. The songs on this CD represent a unique blend of blues, rock, and country influences, and make them unlike most that you've heard before.
The musicians on the compilation consist of players who got together to play with each other and have some fun--hence the 13 songs on the album.
PHIL ARMETTA-- plays all the guitar parts and is from New york City originally having been in Chicago for a good period of time and played with most of the bluesers in town, most notably with the "OTIS CLAY" grammy award winning band until 1999; then with many others. He is currently in New York promoting his own project.
ANTHONY SPACE-- hails from Chicago and has been playing music for about 20 years with various local and national artists, to include "OTIS RUSH" and "SYL JOHNSON"; AND WITH THE "JAMES COTTON BLUES BAND" from 1990 thru 1994.
JOE ZAKLAN-- plays harmonica on "Sweet Daddy" and "Divorce Blues" and is also quite an accomplished guitarist in his own right; having played with notables such as "WILD CHILD BUTLER", the late great "A.C. REED", and "STUDEBAKER JOHN and the HAWKS"--twice touring Korea with disco and pop bands.
AARON TURNER--drums, also from Chicago with a wide range of local , national and international credits--to include: touring with "JR. WALKER and the ALL STARS" in the U.S. and Europe; touring with the "PEABO BRYSON BAND" for 2 years including an asian tour; "JIMMY JOHNSON BLUES BAND dates in the U.S. and Europe; currently with the-- grammy nominated-- "SUSAN TEDESCHI BAND".
WILLIAM GREENE--keyboards--also from Chicago and has toured with various artists including: "CAMEO"--"JENNIFER HOLLIDAY" and "JEAN CARNE". He also toured with the "PEABO BRYSON BAND" from 1989 thru 1998; and is also currently with the grammy nominated "SUSAN TEDESCHI BAND".
RON OVERCASH-- bass and vocals has been doing shows off ond on for about 35 years; backing up artists like "THE DRIFTERS & COASTERS" and warming artists like "RICKEY NELSON, THE DIAMONDS, AND FRANKIE VALLE and the 4 SEASONS". Finally he gets to do his own project. |
