In just 6 months Rooster went from one of the most hotly tipped acts of 2005 to one of the UK’s best rock groups with sell out tours,a top 3 album, \"Rooster\",and 3 top ten singles. The four piece London rock act first hit the Top ten in October 2004 with \"Come Get Some\" and followed the success of it with other hits such as \"Staring at The Sun\" and \"You\'re So Right for Me\" in early 2005. Their blend of sharp and sassy rock and roll hustle attracted a new generation of fans and gave them a new type of musical talent and blistering stage presence. Nick Atkinson, 24, and guitarist Luke Potashnick, 22, went to school together, where their paths first crossed. But it wasn\'t until they were both living in London that the pair got together and began writing material and aspired to start a band. Drummer Dave Neale, 19, was recruited from a band that Luke had become involved with on a visit down to Cornwall, meanwhile, bass player Ben Smyth, 19, was recruited through a small ad in the rock press. Now with all members in place the band settled on a name. When Nick came home £250 richer after putting a bet on a horse called Rooster Booster, the lads deemed it just to take that name. Rooster. When it came to being signed, it was Nick who was initially spotted singing with another band by Hugh Goldsmith. He wasn’t overly impressed with the group however he kept Nick in mind. When Goldsmith set up his new label, Brightside, he called Nick and asked what he was up to. Nick told him he was working with Luke in a new band. Shortly after this, Rooster became the first act to sign to Brightside/BMG. Currently ready to release 4th single “Deep and Meaningless”, The lads are also set to tour the UK for the second time in a year. Fresh from their summer tour dates, including a blinding performance at this years T in the Park, the lads are destined to head on to much greater things in the near future. |
