| Roselyn Sanchez grew up in Puerto Rico. She is a singer, dancer, and actor. In 1994, she won Miss America Petite. She received much fame in her hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico as a dancer and co-host of a hit variety show entitled, Que Vacilon. At 21 years old, Sanchez moved to New York City in hopes of starting a mainstream career as an actor and singer. She performed in a one-man show called Here On My Own. She soon landed a spot as Pilar on the hit CBS soap opera, As The World Turns. This was the show’s first Latin character in their 40 year history. It was also Sanchez’s first English speaking role. She then went on to host the short-lived television show, Fame L.A. and she had a role in the Fox police drama, Ryan Caulfield: Year one. In 2001, Sanchez’s popularity blossomed after a starring role as Jackie Chan’s love interest in the feature film, Rush Hour 2. In 2003, Sanchez had a supporting role in the comedy Boat trip, the thriller Basic, and the horror film entitled Nightstalker. Later that year she starred with Jaci Velasquez and Sofia Vergara in the comedy, Chasing Papi. In early 2004, Sanchez will be releasing a Latin album. |
