International Reggae Artist, Sahra Indio, mesmerizes audiences with her sultry vocal styling, infectious rhythms and positive vibes. Hailed as the reigning Empress of Reggae, and dubbed “Jah’s Jewel,” by her adoring fans, Sahra delivers the global message of truth and rights, forgiveness and love through her music.
Heavily influenced by the music of Superstar, Bob Marley, Sahra began to examine her musical roots, which included the sweet jazz of her legendary, cousin, Clifford Brown. Nurturing this musical spark, burning from deep within, Sahra seized the opportunity to realize her dream.
On the Big Island of Hawaii, Sahra joined her first Reggae band, “Jahringa.” Jahringa, taken from the Australian Aboriginal word for “Dreamtime,” was the place where Sahra found the voice to sing about the beauty and the mystery of life. Like the hot lava flows erupting on the Island, Sahra burst onto the Reggae scene with her debut CD titled “Good’s Gonna Happen”, (Olumeye Records 2003).
“Good’s Gonna Happen”, brought Sahra Indio to the world stage. The CD received international merit for the positive mantra it gives listeners; “good’s gonna happen so, don’t give up, good’s gonna come to you my love.” The title song, the CD’s flagship track, won the “Reggae Song of the Year Award” in the 2004 Unisong International Song Contest.
“Good” has happened for this talented, soulful, songstress and the temperature continues to rise with Sahra’s Sophomore release. “CHANGE” the long awaited and much anticipated Sophomore Album by Sahra Indio, the follow up to “Good’s Gonna Happen” (Olumeye Records 2003) is out now!
Produced by the acclaimed Reggae guitarist Tuff Lion from the Outpost Studio (who has played on and/or produced many of the hardest hitting Reggae Albums coming from outstanding Virgin Island Artists such as, Dezarie, Midnite, Iba, Army, Bambu Station, Ras Attitude, Malika Madremana and more).
13 Stunning tracks of Roots Reggae vibrations dynamically crafted with angelic harmonic textures showcasing Sahra Indio’s poignant lyrical content and her warm, jazz inflected delivery.
While Tuff Lion has certainly earned an iconic status as a Reggae guitarist, this body of work however exposes a broader dimension to his capabilities as a consummate musician, producer, arranger & recording engineer.
It is apparent that Tuff Lion brought all of his vast musical resources forward on “Change” that further extends his outreach and contributions toward the global reggae community.
“Change” is the progressive follow – up to Good’s Gonna Happen.
Tuff Lion and Sahra Indio are kindred spirits whose collaboration is presented with the hope that upon the complete listening of the album it will inspire and elevate the social consciousness of those who are willing to accept meaningful “change” in their lives.
Since reconnecting with her musical roots and stepping out on her own power, “Jah’s Jewel,” Empress Sahra, has performed worldwide at such venues as the U.S. Virgin Islands, France, Japan, at Australia’s “2007 Big Day Out Festival” in Perth and her most recent performing in British Collumbia at the KootsRoots Culture Fest, in Casper, CA @ Casper Inn and at the Monterey Bay Reggae Fest with the band FreeSound where she shared the stage with Batch & Ras Attitude. Jah’s Jewel has also supported Ras Indio, Luciano & Mickey General, Alpha Blondy, Don Carlos, Third World, Steel Pulse, Rico Rodriques, Prezident Brown, Dezarie, Midnite, Bambu Station, I Grade Family Tour - Hawaii and Abijah.
