Sakis Gouzonis is a Greek Electronic Music Composer, Orchestrator, Arranger, and Producer. His music is based on the idea of taking the listener on a journey, giving the listener a whole new experience. In addition, his music defies all borders and speaks to people of all nations and cultures.
He was born on March 16, 1978 to Nick and Frida Gouzonis in Thessaloniki, Greece. Thessaloniki, which is the second largest city in the country, has given Greece some of its greatest artists and thinkers. Two lovely brothers named George and Peter would follow.
In the summer of 1988, Sakis and his family moved to the town of Elassona, which is located at the foot of Mount Olympus, the mythic place of the twelve Olympian gods.
Sakis had always dreamt of having his own musical instrument. In 1990, his dream came true. His parents bought him an electronic keyboard. He was so happy that he started playing music immediately. Sakis had the innate ability to play by ear, to improvise, to arrange music and to create compositions. At that time he wrote his first music composition "Message From Heaven".
At the age of sixteen, his parents bought him his first semi-professional electronic keyboard. He was spending countless hours in his room creating sounds, composing, arranging, and playing music.
From an early age Sakis read and studied the Holy Bible. At the age of seventeen, he decided to get baptized and give his life to Jesus Christ. He began to serve the Lord faithfully in whatever church he was called to, playing praise and worship music, while the Lord worked out in him the plan for his life.
In 1996, Sakis released his first compilation of twelve well-known old and contemporary Christian hymns that he had arranged on his keyboard. The compilation was a big success. People from the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe sent Sakis a lot of letters and a lot of beautiful comments encouraging him to continue. It was amazing the fact that some people who had purchased Sakis’s first compilation wanted to prepay for the next compilation that he would release in the future.
After finishing Senior High School, Sakis served in the Greek Army for one and a half years. That period was very difficult for him psychologically. However, during his service he was given the opportunity to perform for the General of the First Army in Larisa and for the Commandant of the NATO base in Tirnavos. It was a great honor for Sakis!
In 1998, while still serving in the Greek Army, Sakis released his second compilation of ten well-known old and contemporary Christian hymns. The second compilation was a big success too. People of all ages and cultures were blessed. Greek radio stations began to broadcast his music.
In 2000, Sakis was asked to play keyboards in a band that was backing up Greek Christian Singer Costas Fragoraptis in Thessaloniki. Sakis’s ability to play the keyboard very quickly and very accurately left the audio engineer in the studio speechless! They released two albums together. All songs were aired by Greek radio stations.
A year later, he began to work as an English teacher. To this day, Sakis has taught English as a second language to hundreds of children, teens, and adults in Greece.
In 2002, Sakis bought his first professional music workstation and all the necessary equipment in order to build his own home studio. It was a really hard task.
In the summer of 2004, Sakis moved to Athens to pursue a career in music. In Athens he continued to work as an English teacher and write his own music compositions.
In 2007, Sakis participated in the 5th International Music Composition Contest. The results were stunning. Sakis won the 3rd Prize for his composition "Anthem Of Love" and the 1st Commendation Award for his composition "Give Me A Chance" in the Category "Digital Dance Music".
On October 17, 2007, he created a MySpace account. MySpace is the biggest social networking site in the world with more than 200,000,000 members. Sakis topped the MySpace Greek, Electro, Electroacoustic and Christian Charts. He has been receiving a respectable number of visits, encouraging messages and wonderful comments from a worldwide audience every day, and he always takes the time to communicate with each and every individual that makes contact with him on a personal level.
On August 8, 2008, Sakis released his long-awaited first personal album "First Contact" as an independent music production of electronic instrumental music. "First Contact" is intended to capture the heart of God. Sakis believes that with the absence of lyrics, the music becomes very personal. God can take you where He wants to take you, without the words telling you where to go.
In the same year, Sakis also participated in the 6th Composition Competition. He won the 3rd Prize in the Digital Music Category for his composition "Elegy".
Sakis has given more than 700 live performances so far. Thousands of people have been touched and blessed by his inspiring music.
