“I wanted to be a rock star!” explains Dave Grimes in describing his previous musical aspirations. Dave met Tony Alasha when Tony auditioned as lead singer for a band where Dave was already playing bass. They quickly became friends and began to pursue their common dream of fame and fortune while living the sex, drugs and rock-n-roll mantra. They were involved in several cover bands over the years playing everything from classic rock to heavy metal, both individually and together. Eventually both made conscious decisions to lay down their instruments choosing instead to dedicate themselves more fully to their families. Over the years since God brought them together much has changed, the two most significant things being that each came to know Christ and that each is now a father of three (Tony’s wife is currently expecting number 4). Early in his walk with Christ Dave prayed for a guitar (he was a bassist) because he wanted to write a song for God. He had never been a songwriter, but felt compelled to use his musical gifts to glorify the One who saved him. His intention was create a kind of personal worship song. God took that seed of faith and that desire to glorify the Lord and began pouring songs into Dave and that continues even now. In recent years, both Dave and Tony have found great satisfaction in serving on the worship team at Carroll Community Church where they were blessed to meet Dan Esser, percussionist. After getting to know Dave and Tony and hearing their music, Dan expressed an interest in joining them in their mission to share these God-given, scripturally-based messages with as many people as possible. These are three men committed to Christ, to their families and to each other, just trying to do God’s will. |
