From day one, the Hip-Hop culture has embraced the art of MC-ing. While most of generation X and Y believe that "Hip-Hop is dead", there is hope. Hip-Hop is running (and ruining) today's youth culture, and contemporary Rap music has an almost postmortem sound to it. There are no original ideas, expressions, or concepts. In other words, it's cool to bite rhymes, styles, and do "what's hot" in order to sell records. No one wants to stand out or be original...
In a time where most ‘Heads’ whine about Rap music being to “commercial”, and how they are being force fed dancehall beats with Pop choruses – Scribe Tribe Syndicate is a breath of fresh air.
What started as an Online crew in 1999 (in the Throw Down Temple forum of Hip-Hop legend Davey D's Website), has become not only a successful Rap group, but a family. Its members include: [sic], Maceo Tha GrammarGod, Voo da Teach, Paul E. Tick, FLO-D, St. Cule, and Element. Their lyrics fearlessly encompass everything that defines Hip-Hop, taking the styles and words that appeal to us in our everyday vocabulary, and spinning them into something new and enjoyable to listen to. Still, Scribe Tribe is taking that idea even further. They're twisting beats, mixing idioms, and reinterpreting lyricism. They believe that big words and a weird flow do not make for a dope verse. And a good education, a dictionary, and a Thesaurus can be looked upon as tools of any great MC.
Put simply…knowledge defines lyricism.
With 7 members hailing from the four corners of the country, they mix and match lyrics, sounds, and styles into a musical melting pot. STS is based on the belief that without struggle, there can be no success. This hungry crew of MC's from different lifestyles, backgrounds, and locations, has paid their dues for years. Their reward is an evolution into a group that is breaking musical boundaries and knocking down cultural ones.
As they redefine Hip-Hop, they redefine culture. So whether you're a fan of Old School or New School Hip-Hop, Tribe will definitely make a statement with their music. And to all you fools that call good Rap music "back pack" just because there's no gun play, ass clapping or drug slinging involved need to WAKE THE !#?@! UP. There is way more to life than sex, violence and jewelry; and if you are truly an "artist" your work should reflect that. It's all part of the same game. If you move the heads, it's legit.
There should only be two categories for Hip-Hop music: Good and Bad…
Scribe Tribe Syndicate is DAMN good!
