Scrooge, a motivator and an originator, was born Mack Richard Jr. on August 8, 1979 in Mansfield, LA. He has always felt that he was a diamond in the rough, but now that he has filed off all of the rough edges he feels it’s his time to shine and take his rightful place in the rap world, “ The King of Hip –Hop.” He’s hot, talented and ready for the whole world to take heed and recognize him for the man that he is. He confesses that he is Hip-Hop and everything that it stands for. He loves it to the core of his being and represents it in a fashion that can not be duplicated. He’s the bass that you feel in your chest. He is that swagger in your walk when you are on top of the world and can not be touched. He is that feeling you get when you hear that special song for the first time that touches you deep down in your and sends a tingle up your spine. His style is raw, unrehearsed, passionate, real and original.
This young man lives life to the fullest and swears that he has no regrets. He states that regretting your actions comes from not knowing yourself and not knowing what you want out of life. He takes things as they come then handle them accordingly. Even though he’s 5’9, he states that everything about him is big, his dreams, his talent, his hustle and his heart. He knows that GOD is the reason and he gives Him his props. He states that he is nothing without GOD.
Scrooge has been through the pain and the rain. The hardest thing he’s ever had to do was to watch his daddy die. He had to become a man at the age of nine. When his little friends were still believing in Santa Clause, asleep in their bed on Christmas Eve. He was up playing Santa Clause. He had to grow up fast and be that man that he knew his father would be proud of. His father taught him to believe in himself and dream the impossible dreams then go out there and make them come true. His father is his hero and motivator.
Scrooge has been with OFF THA HOOK since day one. He did not start out as a rapper with the label; he started out on the street team. He wanted to help his cousin, CEO James Maxie, any way he could. His whole thing was to help his cousin reach his goals he knew his time was going to come.
The late great Tupac Shakur inspires the rapper; he was enthralled by the way he told his ghetto tales, and how he kept it real no matter what situations came his way. He put out there like it was and when it came back, he accepted it.
"I am the heart of mansfield, you looking at the realist, hotest of the hot, I aint hard to find".
