Biography

Shaun Morgan is their vocalist, lead guitarist, and lyricist.

Dale Stewart is their bass player and does backup vocals.

Kevin Soffera is their percussionest. (drums)

Pat Callahan is their backup guitarist.

"My words will be here when I'm gone"... lyrics from one of their number one songs, "Sympathetic."

They originated in South Africa. They were extremely popular there, which is amazing because Africa is based mainly on a pop/rock culture.

They made their first debut in Africa with the song Fragile. It was one of the best selling titles of the year.

As they headed over to America, their smash hit was Disclaimer.

The group formed in 1999 and originally called themselves Saron Gas, but after finding out what it meant, they quickly changed their name to Seether.

Morgan's motivation for his lyrics came from his lack of acceptance growing up. He had a rough childhood while his parents were divorcing and his mother's family didn't like him because his father was English. His family also kept him from listening to rock, and kept him from dressing punk or rock. This made it all the more clear to him that he was meant to be a rock star. He frequently snuck out of the house and practiced with local bands. He came to the point where he decided that either he was to play his music, or not live to see other people live out the dream that he had. He picked up his guitar, and didn't look at the gun again.

Disclaimer (which was produced by Jay Baumgardner, who also was a producer for Papa Roach and Drowning Pool) offers a view of what life was like when he was growing up.

Morgan feels that his lyrics are just away to get out all of his pent up emotions that have been boiling inside of him since his bleek childhood.

Morgan is currently dating the lead singer of Evanescence, Amy Lee. No tellin if the other band members are hitched or not, so go for it while you can ladies!

Capturing Americas attention for the first time was when Seether went on the Ozzfest Tour, and by winning many people over with their sad, gloomy, and desperate lyrics that spin with a mad array of music. They're definately a band worth checking out.

South Africans here who've actually seen them live and met them! Amy Lee does'nt do Broken any justice, it sounds much better when performed by Shaun Welgemoed(real surname) the way it was meant to be played!!!	DragulaVoodoo
On the album Discaimer II, there was an acoustic version of that song without Amy Lee, I liked it alot better.	MusicMan13

Yeah right. Seether's OK but seriously their music is nothing original at all. They're just another alternative-rock band. "Remedy" is a good song but it sounds a lot like Nirvana and Silverchair (off the top of my head). I went to Seether's site and listened to a few songs off Karma and Effect and they were really bland. Nothing ground breaking at all. I watched the "Remedy" video too. Seether thinks they're all hardcore and shit, it makes me laugh.	BLASTT

Amy Lee DID tarnish Seether. The original version of Broken(which is actually the last track of the original Disclaimer) is far superior. The song just isn't made for the stadium sound it was given. I'm just not sure whether or not to buy Karma and Effect. I did like a couple of the new songs from D2 though(particularly Sold Me and Love Her). The remixing wasn't all that good however.	big-k
