"a barrage of uptempo dance beats, psychedelic samples and grinding indie guitars – all dusted with a soulful female vibrato." Review in 24-7 by Amy McGill, December 2006 Edition.SELECTIV know that music can change your life, after all it's changed theirs! A three-piece break beat guitar band from Exeter, their music is a collection of up-tempo hyperspaceballads, that mix powerful female vocals, driving bass grooves and rocked out guitars, with programmed beats, lush soundscapes and soulful dub electronica.
SELECTIV grew out of a studio project, begun at the end of 2005. They only started playing live in May, after being approached by promoters who had heard about their collaboration. The band brings together former members of Bliss, the Collectiv and the Invisible Opera Company of Tibet.

THE SONGS
"Lyrically uplifting..songs of devotion, energy, passion, new beginnings and eventualities."Eyes on Exeter Review - HYSTERIA Issue 05 December 3 2006
The songs are reflections on the world around them; actions and reactions to the good, the bad and the spaces in between; a sharing of the sentiments that get you through.
You’re Not The Only One is about how sometimes belief is all that gets you through.
Little Fluffy Girls is a statement of intent:
"Nothing’s easy, nothing’s free.
But it’s worth it to live your dreams.”
Safest Place contemplates unity, reminding us all that “together is the safest place in here”.Higher Way expresses ambition, integrity and the need to follow your dreams, while reminding us that “grounded we stand.” |
