Sensuous Enemy is a female fronted electronic band from Madison, WI comprised of JAI [vocals/lyrics/synths] and John Freriks [programmimg/guitars] and Chris Wenzel [Vdrums/programming].
SE blends driving drum sequences and hard techno and EBM synth lines and combines powerful velvety vocals with a subtle use of orchestral strings, piano, and vocal harmony, along with live electric rhythm guitar and drums that create a sublime visual stage presence.
In 2005 SE released their seven song E.P. "Deadly Sins" and won Best Electronic Album of the Year at the 2006 MAMA's and Best Electronic Artist at the 2007 MAMA's.
SE has played great shows with infamous groups like Covenant, Assemblage 23, Imperative Reaction, Combichrist, Rotersand, Android Lust, Razed in Black, Iris, Stromkern, Hungry Lucy, The Azoic, C/A/T, I:Scintilla, Terrorfakt, Cruciform Injection, The Gothsicles, Ctrlshft, Endif, Caustic, Bella Morte, All The Pretty Horses, Heliosphere, Null Device, Zoica, Stochastic Theory, and many others!
They have also played in numerous Electronic Music Festivals like Reverence 2005 - 2008, Madison Electronic Music Festival,and Sound n Fury I and II in Wisconsin, WTII Showcases in Chicago, Elektrofest in Cleveland, OH and much more.
In fall of 2008 SE completed their full length CD "Fragments" recorded and produced by Wade Alin of The Atomica Project/Christ Analogue in Chicago, IL. They were interviewed as a guest on WORT 89.9 Madison's listener supported local radio station, with Dr. Ryan Parks "Something Wonderful", on the "New Disc at Nine" Feature Presentation. In addition, their new disc "Fragments" was also chosen as one of the Top 10 CD's of 2008 in the December Isthmus newspaper.
In 2009 SE won Best Electronic Album of the Year and Best Electronic Song of the Year at the 2009 MAMA's. |
