SHEELA LANGEBERG-Internationally renowned and multi award winning playwright, author, singer/songwriter, storyteller African dancer and performer. She's one of Australia's most thematic exports-one of the most influential and most written about Africans in Australia.
Born, raised and educated in Kilimanjaro- Tanzania before pursuing further studies in Scandinavia, Sheela now resides in Adelaide-Australia. She continues her hectic life style as an all rounder artist, motivator and mother to her twins. Sheela is a conssument and spellbinding performer who is able to captivate her audiences both in text and on stage. Some critics have described her as simply; "Sheer Theatrical Magic"
Sheela has written, produced and toured the globe with her 60 solo stage plays, a few radio dramas, poems and dance/drama/text pieces. Her dance w/shops for all ages are also popular. In most cases, she finds herself touring between 2-3 productions at one time. Those who have seen Sheelas works continue to invite her back year after year. Some of her plays have won major awards including The Canadian English Critics Award (MECCA) for the best touring production in 2003 for her production "MAIJA OF CHAGGALAND" -A true story/stage play about her mighty mother MAIJA's life
In 2005 Sheela was the only artist, outside the ASIAN WOMEN'S ARTS CONFERENCE (CHINA) to be invited to perform a full length of MAIJA OF CHAGGALAND. The piece has been bringing down houses in other international conferences in Adelaide, Greece, Ireland, Sweden and the Phillippines just to name a few- receiving outstanding reviews and acclaims.
In 2006, Sheela spent most of the year working in various projects in Africa, Australia, and Scandinavia-taking part in schools, community libraries and major theater projects including, the most anticipated production "BLACK MADONNA" written especially for Sheela and with her in the leading role of "MARY OF NAZARETH" in Karlskrona- Sweden. The seven performances season was totally sold out-making an audience crowd history for such a small town!
In 2007, Sheela is bound to do even greater projects involving USA, Africa, Australia and Sweden with a world grand tour for 2008 starting in Adelaide-Australia in August 11th. 07 where one of her 3 new productions for 2008; "SALMA:THE GIRL FROM THE AFRICA ROOF" will premiere at the Adelaide Festival Theater, before touring schools in South Australia during August, as part of the "National Book week"
Sheela is also working on her new Album (THE VOICE)- release date yet to be anounsed. Her Dance/drama piece "Dance Celebrates Life" will be one of the spotlight events at the "Unley Way to Go" festival this March.

In her album DREAM, Sheela has used her unique voice, her experties in traditional storytelling, color and landscape and the Tanzanian social life style to create the stories.
