Signs of Betrayal as it is today have been playing together for one year; the majority of its members, however, have played together for over 5 years, performing over 120 shows together in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Signs of Betrayal have long consisted of 5 members: Scott Ables and Steve Schon on guitar; Steve Blodgett on bass; Colby Cordova on the sticks; and David Williams on vocals. The recent addition of Steve Byrom on keyboards and sampling has added a new dimension of creativity to the band, polishing the shining darkness of their music.
Their experience and presence on stage is compounded by their musical talent, translating into a substantial draw no matter what the venue. Audiences respond to SOB’s heavy, refined sound and deep, powerful vocals. They are a band whose collective taste for music has evolved from similar points, but whose artistic individualism and originality strikes chords and thumps beats that have never sat next to one another in song. Their sound unfolds so uniquely that the music always tells a story that has not yet been told, producing dark melodies that continue to reverberate long after the band stops playing.
Their new album, The Reformation, produced by Larry Elyea, is a dark sojourn into the painfulness of our condition, with the band stumbling upon flashes of beauty along the way. The album’s complexity is as impressive as the songs themselves, with topics ranging from laments of loss and death, to love and reconciliation. Signs of Betrayal hope its release will continue to build upon their loyal, expanding audience. |
