SIRREAL-MUZIQ was born on June 1st, 1974 in the heart of Irvington, NJ. Once a diverse mixed middle class white neighborhood, until the 1967 Newark riots caused African-Americans to join the neighboring community of Irvington. This caused a change in the community’s environment, as well as the population’s diversity.
In 1979, at the tender age of five her parents parted ways. Her father aborted the family to fulfill his personal needs and desires. The strain placed upon her mother to provide for the entire household quickly became unbearable. SIRREAL-MUZIQ witnessed the silent-psychological meltdown of her mother, who became a single parent overnight, left to raise three children alone. Living in a single parent home forced her to be a strong, determined, as well as laid back observer.
To escape from reality, SIRREAL-MUZIQ would watch “Video Music Box.” Here is where she noticed the stylish presence of KRS1, Big Daddy Kane, Mc Lyte, Positive K, K-Solo and many other artists. With so much going on in her life she began to put her feelings on paper. SIRREAL-MUZIQ knew that one day she too would impact other individuals, as she was impacted on that first day.
As time elapsed, she could be found anywhere showcasing her talent. As other children just sat and ate their lunch while chatting it up, she used that moment to showcase her abilities. She would create music with her hands on the lunchroom table while free styling along to the beat. This caused other students to listen and invite her to their after school ciphers.
In the early 90’s, SIRREAL-MUZIQ knew music controlled all aspects of her heart and soul. It was no longer a hobby; rather it was an intense passion she had to pursue. Her lyrical skills and mastery of creativity continued to expand her abilities.
At the age of 19 she moved to Brooklyn, NY. SIRREAL-MUZIQ never let hip-hip out of her system. Living in Brooklyn put a major spin on how to approach her talent as a Hip-Hop artist. At the age of 21 she embraced her sexuality and desire to continue the up-hill battle in the industry, as an openly lesbian artist. SIRREAL-MUZIQ anticipated mixed underground album entitled “This Is All I Know,” is due to drop at the end of MARCH 2009.
