| Slavereign Nation was born in late October of 2003, in Bloomington Illinois. The band came from the ashes of Joe and Dustin's previous band Partial Discharge. When Partial Discharge broke up for personal reasons, the two decided to start over. They soon found Jeff Stevens, and Jake Schoenbrun and began to write what are now some of Slavereigns core songs. After almost two years of ripping central Illinois a new one, Jeff had to leave for personal reasons. Slavereign went on a hiatus for almost six months, looking for a new guitar player. They finally found Jon Ernst (formerly of WestPod), and began to teach him the old material as well as starting to write new material. Around this time Slavereign Nation decided to add a second guitarist and a keyboard player to the line up. They found Jon Middleton, and began writing material with him soon after. Around the same time they found the mysterious being known as Space Monkey, they trained him back from his feral state, and gave him a keyboard. After a few months Jon Middleton chose to quit to accept a promotion at work, and Slavereign went on the search once more. Luckily it didnt take as long as previous searches. They soon found Jacob Darby. Jacob was in the band after only one audition. So with the line-up finally in a comfortable place, Slavereign Nation began playing shows once more, and has started recording for their as of yet untitled full-length. From the beginning, Slavereign Nation set out to be something unique in the central Illinois metal scene. They do not limit themselves to any one type of genre. They continue to write and live by this philosophy. Tapping into a range of influences such as In Flames, Shadows Fall, Fear Factory, Tool, Killswitch Engage, Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Nothingface, Pantera, White Zombie, Dry Kill Logic, and Soulfly, to create a blast of heavy soundscapes fueled by socially relevant and political messages. |
