Slipknot-Cartoon Characters??
Is it me??? but have the majority of the
worlds youth kinda missed the point of
Slipknot. They're not a real band!!
They're the equivalent of a cartoon band.
Lets not forget their whole purpose is to say
bollocks and get children to think its real,
they then go out and spend shit loads on
cd's and downloads making them and the
record company a fortune. Its all about the
money. If you enjoy them, great, this is not
about them being good or bad, this is about
them being real or false. Slipknot is a money
making machine; thats why there are so many
side projects, Stone Sour, Murder Dolls etc.
Don't be fooled kids; they just want your
money!!!

people, people, we must remember who we are
dealing with here sometimes. please realize
that you are talking to an idiot, and he
doesnt realize what he is saying. when
encountering people like this, they usually
dont realize how dumb they are, so you must
carfully explain the situiation to them. now.
an actuall fake band would be something like
the gorillaz. now there is absolutly no
denying that the gorillaz are purly meant for
money making, because they are just a
cartoon. now even though alot of people hate
slipknot, they are still a real band, in the
eyes of some, a bad band, but still real.
see, a real band is when people write songs,
guitar parts, bass parts, drum parts ect.
that is what slipknot does. they write music.
real music. making slipknot real. when
slipknots first album came out, it sold
around 1000 copies, and now is so rare, you
can only find it at ebay for a hefty price of
around $300. you see, if slipknot really was
intended to make lots of money, they would
have been releasing videos right from the
start. they didnt. so you see, you are
missing the point of slipknot my friend, just
because they have become popular doesnt mean
that it was intended at first. people like
the music-band becomes popular. see? its that

Perhaps its us English!! Perhaps we're
missing the point. I find it strange the
every kid under the age of 18 goes nuts over
Corey Taylor when he wears a mask in
Slipknot; but then completely ignore the guy
when he takes the mask off and fronts Stone
Sour. Don't get me wrong, they're very
successful and good luck to them, its just
over here (UK) no one takes them
seriously....only the above age group of 18
and unders. Oh, and I didn't mean the
literal "Real", I meant the
metaphorical "Real", I was
posing a question of attitude; do they write
and play because of their own lives (Real),
or do they write and play to attract the
attention of the disaffected youth and their
money (False). Hense the question are
Slipknot a "Real" band? I hope
this clears up any miss understanding.
A second question; If you still think Corey
and Slipknot are a "Real" band;

Most people don't know about Stone Sour,
because Corey and Jim don't bother to
publicize it you retard. And Corey isn't
the only one from slipknot who is in Stone
Sour. Slipknot guitarist Jim Root is also a
member, but of course you're to stupid to

"Cartoon" are metaphorical
adjectives not literal adjectives, if you
don't understand those words please find a
dictionary first.........A dictionary is
usually a book, containing a list of words,
which will then tell you what those words

stone sour is DEFANATLY more than a side
project. they are a great band. but like i
said before, slipknot really didnt start out
just for the money(listen to MFKR and you
would understand.) simon, you seem to have
this big thing over age groups here. you
giving me the impression that you think that
when your 17 you love slipknot then *BANG* as
soon as you turn 18 you are too good for
slipknot. if all i cared about was the masks,
then i wouldnt like bands like SOAD, nirvana,
killswitch engage, STONE SOUR, bad acid trip
ect. bottom line is, i simply do not care
now, if slipknot only wants my money, fuck,
they can have my money, cause they still make

This whole forum has been a mis
interpretation of my various comments; as
i've said i'm a 37 year old musician
and i like Slipknot, I prefer Stone Sour. My
point has been to ask questions about
motivations. Age is not an issue, its about
how tastes develope as fans get older. I used
the 18 year old mark, not as fixed in stone
age, just as a guide. It was an attempt to
get people of all ages to open minds to the
possibilities that Slipknot were not the be
all and end all of Rock. There's so much
great stuff out there, listen to it all, and
to see the band for what they are. You have!!
So many people are leading their lives
because of the lyrics that Slipknot write, I
just wanted to point out, that may not be a
wise thing to do. It was never an attempt to
say Slipknot were Shit, but to ask whether
they were "REAL"? and thats the

Tool and there's A Perfect Circle...

okay Tool and APC... both the product
of a frickin' genius...
well if you listen to both and analyze
both... it's not just the style of music
that's (slightly) different... but
it's the content of the lyrics that set
them apart...
example: "3 Libras" (APC) and
"Undertow" (Tool)
In 3 Libras, the music is OVERTLY
meloncholic, the lyrics self-abusive...
it's easy to create an image/scenario from
that song... (makes you feel)
In contrast, in Undertow the music is OVERTLY
disconcerting, the lyrics enigmatic...
it's difficult (NOT impossible though) to
create an image/scenario from that song...
(makes you think)
so you see, the members of Slipknot MAY use
that band to entertain (& make good $$$ from
it... hey that's what
"entertainers" eventually
do..)
and then have Stone Sour to do something
else...
so you see... it's not that Slipknot is
"fake" in the sense that
they're not tangible or touchable
and they're not "fake" in
the sense that well..... I'm gettin'
tired of writing...
so here's what I think: Slipknot's
just puttin' on a show... no more, no
less... that's showbiz, as they say... =P

enlightened answer. Someone who has finally
grasped the concept of the
"Metaphorical Real" as apposed
to the "Literal Real",
I actually like Corey Taylor and Jim Root as
a guitarist, I prefer they're Stone Sour
stuff, which was the band they were in before
Slipknot.
I think there has only been a couple of
contributors who understood what i
saying..."Vamp" comes to mind

the masks are symbols of identity for
slipknot. as corey says, 'once the mask
comes out, that is not slipknot anymore'
or something like that. but still without the
masks i'll still listen to the songs.
real or not, in the end, it's the music
that matters. they deserved the money. but
majority of ppl in my place started listening
heavy metal after 18years old. Punk and
hip-hip was the style before 18. but i

point out that they are a made up band, a
record company creation, no different than
all the endless boy bands on the pop scene,

decided to create a "Cartoon
Band", put together a group of really
talented musicians, and give them a gimick to
