April 2005
Split Shift, based out of southern New England, formed October 1999 as a tribute band, had a show March of 2000 in which Korn came to one of their shows, joining them onstage. With immediate media and radio exposure from such a phenomenon, the future boys of Split Shift rocked sold out venues throughout New England for the following year and were encouraged to take on a career of their own.
April 2001, the first original “Drowned” was written, hence, the birth of Split Shift. With a massive fan base, it was easy for Split Shift to expose their music to an unlimited amount of people instantly throughout New England, along with the aid of WCCC 106.9 in Hartford, CT spinning Drowned and Forget heavily.
Entertainment lawyers and manager were in place by the end of 2001 with label showcases to follow. By June of 2002, Split Shift purchased their own tour bus and signed with No Name / Elektra Records. April 2004, Split Shift debut CD “Tension” hit stores which brought the band on their first major tour with Universal Recording artist Godsmack. This was a very exciting time for Split Shift, however, a series of unfortunate events soon followed. The passing away of No Name’s president Steve Richards, the merger between Elektra Records and Atlantic Records which resulted in no more No Name / Elektra, which resulted in Split Shift losing their record deal in September of 2004, having to turn their backs on the songs that got them signed.
