| When you think of a spore, most people, by now, have heard and acknowledge it as a bacterial fungus, most recently related to anthrax and biological weapons. But, in reality, these spores have been around long before it became a newscast story. Not that they don’t carry the same characteristics. A spore can rest in a dormant state until the environment is favorable for development. As in the true meaning of the word, that’s exactly what this band did. Half of the members are alumni of The Spores, part of New England’s music scene rockers of the past. When The Spores departed, a few went on to explore other projects and keep up with modern music as it was turning the corner towards a combination of alternative, heavy metal and powerful rhythmic melodies. With the new influences that were flooding the air waves and music stores, they couldn’t sit back and listen without wanting to explore the sub genre itself. The three got together to start an original recording project, now calling themselves The Spores2000, only because the dot com name of The Spores was already taken, and, because the project was started in 2000. The entire project was self-contained, from the writing and recording to the graphic CD artwork and promotional marketing. It displays the diverse styles and open mindedness these experienced musicians are capable of. Through the success of the Internet, and it’s #1 indie distributor, CDBaby, the CD made it’s way around the world to a small number of indie lovers in over 22 countries. It was great to just get the music out there so people could hear it, but the sales of the CD being shipped over seas was unexpected. Now with the second CD recorded, the band is ready to be out and rockin New England once again. |
