Starving Zealots is a hard rock band from Lloydminster, AB/SK, Canada. Since 1993, Nic Brouwer and Graeme Friesen have been writing and performing music together in various forms. Under the original name, Rebozo and with the first 3 drummers, the group played over 50 shows. The band played a large spread of venues, and shared the stage with many great bands, including Audio Adrenaline. Rebozo released 4 albums with the first 3 drummers, however, it wasn't until 2001, when Brent Winterhalt joined, that the gel was set. Rebozo recorded one more album, but in late 2003, agreed that there needed to be a change.
After 10 years under the name Rebozo, the band changed their name to Starving Zealots in January 2004. They have since recorded 3 demos, each to greater success than the last. The most recent demo was recorded with DoveFire Records, the label that signed them in September, 2005. This latest demo is currently being serviced to radio stations nationwide. They will be recording a full length album in spring 2006 with a summer release date.
A Brief History
1993 - Graeme Friesen and Nic Brouwer start writing their first songs
1995 - Release 6 song EP, titled 'Jack & Jill'
1997 - Release self-titled debut full length
1999 - Release 20 song live album
2000 - Release full length titled 'Shynethrus'
2001 - Brent Winterhalt joins
2003 - Release 7 song EP titled 'Turn The Corner'
2004 - Change name to Starving Zealots; release first demo
2005 - Release 5 song EP titled 'Mr. Right'; sign to DoveFire Records, record new demo
2006 - Release new demo to radio |
