In an industry where very few bands that “make it” are original, Stealing Jane has blended various genres of music to create tunes that gratify every inch of the ear. Formed in the year 2000 under the moniker HyJinX, this eight-man unit has reformed under the name Stealing Jane in February, 2007 and has managed to grab the attention of the fickle independent music scene with a genre-defying harmony of rock, pop and R&B music. Although their music can be classified as pop rock, Stealing Jane’s sound can be best described as “groove rock,” serving up a fresh new sound that people like to move along to when listening.
Now, with a consistently strong live performance as their top priority, Stealing Jane's tireless tour schedule sees them visiting high profile venues as Giants Stadium (NJ), Webster Theater (CT) Lupos (RI), Crocodile Rock (PA), The Stone Pony (NJ), Club Vertigo (VT), Petrus Night Club (KY), The Bitter End (NYC), BB Kings (NYC), The Crazy Donkey (NY), among many others.
Stealing Jane’s eclectic mix of band members consists of: Bryce Larsen on lead vocals and rhythm guitar takes his inspiration from greats like Elvis Costello, Stevie Wonder, and Frank Sinatra as well as modern groove and rock bands like Dave Matthews and Maroon 5; Matt Giordano on lead guitar, who grew up on pop-punk but eventually moved on to bands like The Dave Matthews Band and Derek Trucks and guitar players like Stevie Ray Vaughn and The Allman Brothers Band; Brian Bunce on the bass, a “ska kid” who listens to modern rock and always has his finger on the pulse of current music; Pat Iannelli on the saxophone, who at heart will always be a fan of hardcore and metal music that brought him through high school, while he continues to search for inspiration as a pop producer; Dave Calzone on the trombone who loves classic rock and old school metal, Jesse Sears on keyboards who after going to school in New Orleans and traveling the world has an eclectic musical background focussing on jazz and jam bands; Will Tully on drums who is a fan or hard rock drummers, especially Travis Barker; and finally; Andrew Mericle, who has always been into modern hard rock, on the trumpet. They all come together and add a fresh flavor to the mix.
Stealing Jane has shared the stage with many well known artists such as: Lifehouse, OneRepublic, The Bravery, Spin Doctors, Hanson, Tower of Power, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Zox, Badfish, RX Bandits, Crash Romeo, The Wailers, and The Killing Moon, just to name a few. They pride themselves on their dedicated and loyal street team that boasts members from across the United States and beyond.
Stealing Jane has already received acclaim from high profile New York publications such as Good Times (who awarded them first place in the Long Island Music Festival) and the Inside Connection. The band has also received extensive radio play in over fifteen states and were also featured with an on air interview with XM radio’s Opie and Anthony during which their single "Heartbreaker" was played and reviewed. The song received much positive response from the often harshly critical audience of the show.
Stealing Jane is a band that is on its way to the top. They have created a sound that is unique to the music industry today, and their hard work is paying off. Just this August 2007, they released their EP titled “Say Something” on BTO Records. Keep an eye out for these eight gifted artists who come together as one and form Stealing Jane!
