www.steveevansmusic.com April 2003, Steve began working on his idea to put together a live show of 'Original Northern Soul.' He Says "I had spent the past two years sending off demo CDs and auditioning for bands. It was so disheartening to put so much work into a package to send to a record company only to have it sent back to me unopened three months later! So after reading a book called 'The Musicians Bible' I decided to take it's advise and go out there and create the 'buzz' myself!"
Steve started by recruiting 3 experienced session musicians, John Doyle, Si Smith and Matt Leonard, forming the foundations of a smooth soulful live sound. In November 2003, Steve chose to add some extra richness to the mix by bringing in two female vocalists to provide harmonies throughout the show, by introducing his two longstanding close friends, Marsha Browne and Danielle Henry.
In March of 2004, Steve performed his debut show with the band at Manchester 's Prague V bar. They went down a storm with lots of support from friends, family and plenty of new faces. The gig received coverage on BBC radio GMR and provided Steve with his first airplay, "It was so weird to hear my song on the radio, but in a really good way. It was a significant milestone for me!"
Under the direction of Steve, the band have created a strong sophisticated sound that is so rare in popular music today and if the first gig was anything to go by, this is just the beginning of an exciting journey to success.
