| Discovered in a moldy warehouse, over 80 tapes full of Steve Kilbey’s home recordings made between 1980 –1984. Thought damaged beyond repair, the tapes were miraculously brought back to a pristine state for another brief sonic glimpse. Captured on state of the art digital technology, the songs were cleaned up and enhanced, remixed, retouched and remastered, breathing a new life into songs that had been thought lost for eternity.
The results are nothing less than astounding. SK shows why he is such a highly regarded songwriter, effortlessly moving from esoteric-guitar pop through dark tribal distortions to synthesized vocal epics. The effect is one of supreme clarity, shone onto the distant past, a past that never sounded so near, clear or fresh. From out of the vault, these songs emerge as if re-awakened from suspended animation. |
