I started playing the piano at the age of 12 years old and the guitar at 13.
My Mother is an accomplished classical pianist and she likes to play some boogie woogie every once in a while.
My older brother is a great ragtime guitarist who also like to play jazz and progressive guitar. They both contributed to my diverse taste in music.
My Mom listened to Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Fabian, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck,B.B. King and many others. She used to take me to the Circus Circus and leave me at the daycare/video game center while she would go see Elvis at the Sands. My Brother Mike, was a great inspiration to me on the guitar! He is very talented as a guitarist! He listened to The Who, Yes, Mott The Hoople, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Ian Hunter, The Kinks, as well as Joe Pass, Andreo Segovia and others. He has a wide diverse tast in music. I grew up during the great music of the 70's 80's and the 90's. I listened to Foreigner, Loverboy, Styx, Queen, Devo, B52s, Kc And The Sunshine Band, GAP Band, Kool and The Gang.
I love basically all music that has a positive message. If someone is using their talent to preach a negative message or topic, I don't listen to it.
