The band StillWater is located in southeastern Ohio and is comprised of the brother duo of Kevin and Kent Jolley. Kevin has been playing guitar for over 20 years and Kent has similar experience on the bass. Both brothers learned the power of harmony in their vocal styles from their father. Their dad was a celebrity of sorts on the local bluegrass scene and showed the brothers the importance of harmonies, from a depth and emotional perspective, and how much vocal harmonies can enrich a bands sound. The brothers took this guidance to heart. Stillwater has a musical style that is the melding of wide and varied influences. The brothers draw on early bluegrass and traditional country influences intertwined with comtemporary and progressive rock and indie sounds. It doesn't seem like a marriage of tones, but the brothers make the sounds work to pull off catchy tunes with memorable hooks. Kevin's influences range from Eddie Van Halen to Tony Rice. Kent's influences range from Geddy Lee to Tom Gray.
Kevin plays Fender, Martin and Sams guitars, he uses Behringer amplification and ART processing.
Kent plays Warwick and Washburn basses, he uses Carvin amplification and ART processing.
