Sublime formed in 1988 with a unique blend of Ska, Punk, Hip Hop, and Reggae genres of music. Sublime, consisting of Vocalist/Guitarist Bradley Nowell, Bassist Eric Wilson, and drummer Floyd "Bud" Gaugh, came straight out of California's skating, smoking, surfing scene that it's famous for. Sublime released it's first album, "40 oz. to Freedom", in 1992, and its second, "Robin' the Hood", in '94. Both albums were amazing successes. Like many famous music artists, Bradley took the unfortunate turn to heroin. Tragically, four months before releasing their third album, Brad died of a heroin overdose in his hotel room. The rest of the band still wanted to continue with releasing their S/T album though, mostly to support themselves, and Bradley's wife and son that he left behind. The album was a large success, and despite the death of Bradley, the band released many more albums of unreleased material, including "Second Hand Smoke"(1997), which contained many remixes and different versions of their already hit songs. Sublime is still widely listened too among many different people, young and old, and is famous for their "Skunk" (Ska mixed with Punk), style. Sublime will defiantely be remembered years from now as an innovative California band.
