| Sugarlust were formed along with the mountains and valleys of the North by the glaciers of the last ice age as long ago as 1999 from the corpse of the rotting Fishcake. The great minds combined and the germ of an idea was born. We would play some other peoples songs to get gigs and then as our popularity grew our own songs would be snuck in without anyone noticing until they dominated the set. A cunning plan. Then a stupid misunderstanding over a song caused a heinous hiatus only punctuated by Party in the Park, a farewell of sorts. Wedge did some Speedtrap leading his band of merry men on many a long and debauched night of frenzied plank spanking. Ian, Carl and Scott continued with Oddhead all growing alarmingly odd heads in the process and doing very few gigs, lazy bastards!!! After the folding of Speedtrap due to the departure of Jacko and the near departure of Steve (DIRT drummer) whisperings were heard of a reunion. Truth there was in this rumour young Skywalker. Now a mighty four piece featuring Wedge on Guitar and Vocals, Ian on Guitar and vocals, Steve on Bass and Scott on Drums they are carving a sonic masterpiece on the landscape of Northern music whilst simultaneously being ignored. With 2 writers and 2 lead vocals there is variety in the Sugarlust sound. Signed to Launch Party the smallest label and promotions company ever, they have still managed to sell several hundred copies of their 2 EPs, the first cleverly entitled EP features live favourites Ted, Smile and Moving in for the Kill. The second called the Blackout EP features 25 minutes of music including Blackout strangely enough. Recorded, produced, mixed and engineered by Ian and mastered with the help of former member Carly B the tracks on Myspace can also be DOWNLOADED from www.indiestore.com/sugarlust |
