Switchfoot is ever increasingly becoming known for their inspirational rock ballads. The band has been in the music industry for half a decade. They released three albums on an independent label, before releasing their biggest success, ‘The Beautiful Letdown’. Combine, these three albums (Legend of Chin, New Way to be Human, Learning to Breathe) have sold over 400,000 copies. Their latest album has just reached one million in record sells. They are currently headlining a sold out concert tour that stretches from March to September.
Switchfoot got its beginning on the beaches of San Diego in the mid 1990’s. Jon and Tim Foreman met Chad Butler through their interest in surfing. All three competed in National surfing contests and received endorsement deals from major equipment companies, but soon came to realize that their true calling was music. The threesome decided to form a band. The bands name ‘Switchfoot’ is taken from a surfing term. The three practiced for months in a garage, and finally hit the road. After touring for a short time they were signed to the independent record label re:Think records. Their first album, ‘Legend of the Chin’ was released in 1997. They released to other successful albums on this label. Shortly after recording ‘The Beautiful Letdown’, the band was signed to Columbia records. After the release of ‘The Beautiful Letdown’, the band received critical acclaim for the musical talent.
Swicthfoot could be labeled as Adult Alternative or a Christian Rock band. But the band seems to disagree. “We’ve never fit in any of the genre boxes,” says Foreman. “I think that diversity is our strength.” Either way, the band has experienced much success. Their influences include Police, James Taylor, The Beatles, and Stevie Wonder.
Switchfoot’s accomplishments are vast and varied. Their music has appeared on popular TV shows such as ‘Regis and Kelly’, ‘Dawson’s Creek’, and ‘Felicity’. They have performed on ‘Last Call with Carson Daily’ and ‘Late Late Show with Craig Kilbourn.’
Their awards include:
· 2003 San Diego Music Award for "Album of the Year," and “Pop Album of the Year”
· 2002 San Diego Music Award for “Best Adult Alternative”
· 2001 San Diego Music Awards for "Best Pop Album,” and "Best Pop Artist"
· 1997 San Diego Music Award for "Best New Artist"
· Gibson Guitars' 2001 Les Paul Horizon Award (awarded to guitarist/lead singer Jon Foreman)
Other accomplishments include:
5 songs included on the Gold certified soundtrack "A Walk to Remember"
Over 50 song usages on major TV (WB, FOX, CBS, Columbia, MTV, ABC, and Disney)
New “Meant To Live” video playing on MTV, MTV2, and Fuse
The band is also very active with DATA (Debt, Aids, Trade for Africa), a charity formed by u2’s front man Bono.

Hello Children Hello children *evil laugh* Muahahaha.
Anyway, who has "New Way To Be Human"? I love that CD. It is my best friend. XD Not really, but that is a good CD. My favorite song on that CD is "Something More." Actually, that is probably my favorite song by Switchfoot.

| Is that older than "The Beautiful Letdown"? Sorry, I dont know the chronology of the albums. Never heard anything off it, but i'll check it out. | follower_18 | that last post just goes to show how many bandwagon fans switchfoot really has. yes, well, "new way to be human" is their second cd. | JUKEBOXXXGIRL | Switchfoot has released four albums: Legend of Chin, New Way To Be Human, Learning To Breathe, and The Beautiful Letdown. Combined, they have sold 1.5 million copies. | SwitchFboy | YES, FINALLY SOMEBODY THAT'S NOT JUST IN LOVE WITH THE BEAUTIFUL LETDOWN!!! | JUKEBOXXXGIRL | i'm sorry, but i'm kind of offended. i'm not a bandwagon member. yes, i only know the one cd i have, but thats because i'm only just getting into them on the suggestion of a friend. i dont have mtv or anything so i hadn't heard them anywhere else, except on a mix cd i have from a few years back. please dont think i'm some little follower of the crowd or mtv groupie, the follower_ 18 speaks of something totally differnt that i follow. | follower_18 | awww.... im sure theyre sorry.
