dare you to move??
hey i LOVE the song dare you to move....
do u guys like it at all?? and does it bug anyone else how everyone has an obsession with meant to live but doesn't know any of switchfoots other songs??

the songs on the beautiful letdown, what
other cd should i check out? I really like
the songs "Gone", and "The

I think all the tracks from "The
Beautiful Letdown" are awesome. I hate
it when radiostations play the singles so
much. Speaking of singles, "Meant To
Live" peaks at #19 on Billboard Hot 100
Charts! Dare You tTo Move is also gaining
lots of listeners. Their Beautiful Letdown LP
is #16 on the Billboard Hot 200 charts, with
1 million sold throughout the country.
Switchfoot is different from most of groups
out there because while everyone else is
singing about sex, booze, drugs, and
nonsense, they are are singing about hope.
Switchfoot sings about the hope that heals a
gaping wound, hope that dares people to go
against conformity, hope that brings
life-salvation. Through times of despair and
pain, the only "ammunition" that
keeps us alive is hope. "The Beautiful

I honestly like all the songs on 'The
Beautiful Letdown' and I do like that they
sing about the other stuff that doesn't get
written about a whole lot...I mean I like
Green Day and Blink-182 a lot more but they
don't sing about anything of Switchfoot

Rarely does a band mix explosive guitars and
phenomenal vocals, with an intense longing
for meaning. While the majority of
pop-culture is selling sex, drugs, and
saturating the minds of Americans with
useless messages, Switchfoot is doing the
opposite. Instead they are relaying the
importance of hope, strength, and honesty.
Switchfoot, which is made up of Jon
Foreman(vocals and guitar), Tim
Foreman(vocals and bass), Chad Butler(Drums),
and Jerome Fontamillas(Key-board), hail from
Southern California. Not only have they
become a bonified entity in the world of
Christian Rock, they've succuessfully
crossed over as mainstream artists. Similar
to P.O.D., the band has been able to
transcend outside the Christian rock scene by
touring consistently, often with bands from
other genres.
Though they are best known for their brand
new LP, "Beautiful Letdown",
Switchfoot has been around for about seven
years.
In 1997, they released "Legend of
Chin", followed by "A New Way To Be
Human", and finally "Learning To
Breathe". Combined, all three albums
have sold around 400,000 copies. On 2002,
some of their songs were included in the
popular-film "A Walk To Remember"
which later sold over half-million. It is
their music, saturated with meaning and a
sense of longing, that made people want to
listen to them more. Eventually they released
their first major-label album under Columbia
Records, "The Beautiful Letdown".
Their fourth album debuted on the Billboard
Hot 200 charts at #85. Thanks to the
popularity of the album's debut single,
"Meant To Live", which peaked at
#18 on the Hot 100 Singles Chart, the album
eventually reach the top 20 and became a
platinum seller with 1 million albums sold
nationwide.
Jon Foreman said of their new album,
"The letdown is the idea that your hands
are ripped away from all the things that the
earth has established. Sometimes, your
fingers are torn off in the process. When all
those things are stripped away and all that
remains is who you truly are, that's where
the kingdom of heaven lives. [Christ] didn't
come for the people who have their hands on
the money. He didn't come for the people who
didn't need a doctor. He came for the sick,
the poor, the broken, the losers, and the
ugly jerks. He came for you and me, and that
act is basically the beautiful
letdown."
Despite all the success, the group is still
committed to staying true to their goal,
which is doing something that they love,
music.
We try not to look at numbers, because that
stuff doesn't mean anything," Foreman
said. "It feels great whether you're
playing in front of 50 or 500 kids and
they're singing along. When Tim and I were
in a band in high school, we scrimped and
waited tables to make enough money to print
1,000 CDs, and it was incredible when we sold
500 copies and broke even. It's amazing to
know people are getting into what you're
doing."

iam glad that there is a band that sounds
like there punk rock but not so they put it
on punk rock raido stations and people get
saved.iam a christian and i sometimes alot of
times i dont act like one but i realy can be

genius of Only Hope, the hardcore guitar of
Meant To Live, and their saved by the grace
God soulful song "24". It all

It's so strange to read people syaing,
" I'm a christian, I'm a
christian" and then .. " I hate
shadow bug, shadowbug take your comments
somewhere else." Or something along
those lines- Here we are talking about how
cool it is that Switchfoot has such a
powerful message about the reality of Jesus
Christ( or God- I don't think anyone
mentioned Jesus Christ- which if your talking
about the one true God you have to have Jesus
) and then saying I hate shadowbug- that
doesn't make any sense- and asking that
person to take their comments else where is
kinda strange if you are professing to be a
Christian- wouldn't you want people who
disagree with you to ask qiestions and make
comments so you can get a conversation with
them going and hopefully be able to tell them
about Jesus Christ the life-changer-saver-
