oTailbone are an intriguing metal combo operating in a genuinely original realm that touches on many reference points but doesn’t take the easy path of imitation o AS, Blunt Magazine, Australia
Pulsating drums, brooding bass lines, ethereal riff – laden guitars combined with dark epic vocals – This is Tailbone – one of the most unique and powerful heavy rock bands to emerge out of Melbourne. Since their formation in early 2003, Tailbone have gone from strength to strength with their constant evolution of song writing setting them apart from the Melbourne rock scene.
Diversion from a set genre with their distinctive sound has given the band freedom to progress both aurally and visually. Tailbone has a strong understanding for and appreciation of the visual component of live gigs. As a result of experimentation, believing this to be part of the experience of seeing live bands, Tailbone deliver arguably one of the most unique and powerful heavy sets in Melbourne.
Regular supports with some of Australia’s finest artists such as Rollerball, Fort, Dreadnaught, Frankenbok and .hinge and an invitation to perform at 2005’s Metal for the Brain has further elevated the bands reputation
Tailbone released their debut independent E.P. "The Ocean Drone" in 2004 to glowing reviews and a sold out room. 2005 was a big year for Tailbone, seeing them play almost every Melbourne venue including the Palace, The Espy, The Evelyn and the Tote with everyone from Airborne to Walk the Earth.
Their most recent recording took nine months to produce and has been Tailbone’s largest project to date. Featuring seven full-length songs, the self-titled album looks to be launched by mid March with an east coast tour in support of it, 2006 shall be Tailbone’s year. They are ready to re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere…
