Taproot sent their demo to Fred Durst in 1998 and were suprised when he called back and liked them. Fred had taken too long to do anything with them so they signed with Atlantic Records. Their first album, "Gift", was released in 2000. Jack Osbourne liked the band and got them a spot in the 2000 Ozzfest tour. Their second album, "Welcome", was finished in 2002 and showed a softer side to the band. Many magazines spoke highly of them.
