The vivacious Teddi not only has a beautiful voice, but remarkable commitment and self-belief. A devoted mother, life has delivered its fair share of trials to Teddi along the way. She has had to draw on every bit of her naturally bouncy nature to recover from personal tragedy and move on… and songwriting shone a light on the way forward, allowing her to express all her emotions, from sorrow to joy. Her first song “A Lesson For Me” was a reflective, uplifting, jazzy concoction that invites you to find a comfy chair, put your feet up and chill-out with, perhaps, a glass of fine wine.
Songwriting became a therapeutic and positive experience for Teddi that she decided to focus her seemingly limitless energies in this direction… and when she was encouraged to not only write her own music but also sing it, she wholeheartedly embraced a new career path in one of the toughest industries of all, determined to make her mark.
In 2003, Teddi travelled to LA for a songwriter’s convention and there amidst an ocean of musicians and fellow songwriters, she reached a decision to finance the production of her first album “And the Winner is…”. This album is a gutsy display of self-exploration in which Teddi bares her soul and melodically takes you along her life’s journey – through the crises of self-identity, the rollercoaster ride of relationships, the loss of a loved one, and the call to triumph over adversity. Yet underneath her music lies real positivity and a determination not to let hardships daunt her spirit or weaken her will to move forward.
Teddi’s music offers a hand of encouragement, and the heart of understanding, to anyone who’s been bruised by life’s twists and turns. Not surprisingly, it comprises all the things that are Teddi – a mix of strength and tenderness, positive attitude and confident feminism. Her song titles and selection speak volumes about her attitude towards life. “You Are The Universe” is an uplifting number about dreaming a dream, having the courage to be yourself, and taking action to make that dream a reality. Her deliberate choice to do covers of Queen’s “I Want to Break Free” and Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman” completes Teddi’s journey of self-discovery, self-empowerment and the eventual result of winning herself… thus explains the album’s impressive cover photo and its title.
Teddi’s uplifting lyrics can cause even the most jaded among us to believe it is never too late to do something meaningful with our lives… you just need to start with a little self belief! Whatever style she chooses, her songs are easily accessible. Primarily pop contemporary, sometimes jazzy, at other times “bluesy”, perhaps even a touch of country or a dash of folk… her versatility provides something for everyone. And beneath it all, without a doubt, you will be touched and inspired by her spirit.
Teddi is currently working on her second album, “Freshly Squeezed” which aims to provide further insight into the other dimensions of this multi-faceted artist (perhaps even a glimpse to her raunchier side… Teddi is, after all, every inch a woman!)
