Temple of Misery has evolved from a 5 piece to a new project that is currently in the works. You may have heard rumors about the state of the band. Temple of Misery did NOT break up and Temple of Misery is NOT breaking up. Three members chose to leave the band for a number of reasons. You may or may not have even heard rumors about this from those former band members.
At this time, Temple of Misery is Lygia Travesty and Daniel Rayn, two people with the same goal of sacrificing everything to make the world know the band's name. It remains to be seen whether or not we add anyone else to the line-up. As you are probably aware, this is not the first time we've had line-up changes since the two of us started the band 5 years ago. This is not a bad thing; it is one of those things that inevitably happen when a band is working to establish itself.
We are not booking shows right now. We do not know when we will be ready to play out again. But we will definitely continue to make new music and will let you know when we are. Thank you to our friends and fans who have always supported us. You know who you are.
Love,
Daniel & Lygia
"Armed with a new (upcoming) album and a new sound, Temple of Misery has prepared itself to express the lifestyle it knows best. Get ready for an army of black leather, vinyl pants and stage makeup." - Dayton City Paper
Temple of Misery is a retro goth-rock band changing the shape of the underground music scene by incorporating a vast mix of genre blending old sounds with new. If you must put Temple of Misery into a category, "Heavy Gothic Groove," is most fitting for the band. Heavy Gothic Groove is the niche that the band has carved out for themselves, in which the music sounds exactly as the phrase implies. However, the music is sometimes mellow while other times upbeat, but it always has an edge.
The female-fronted band has shared the stage with the likes of big names such as The CruxShadows, Voltaire, Bella Morte, Seraphim Shock, Diva Destruction, Hungry Lucy, Die Symphony, and Invisible Records' Meg Lee Chin of the industrial legend, Pigface. Temple of Misery continues to increase its own fan base by bringing new ideas to the stage and making fans wonder what will happen next.
Other projects members are involved with:
Dekoy - an amazing electronic band forging their way to the top. Temple of Misery's Lygia did some guest vocals for their track "I Live Again", which you can hear on their page along with other tracks from their CD "Redux: Heartwerk V2 LE". The album has garnered worldwide praise from critics and fans alike
"Likewise, one of my personal favourites, 'I Live Again' is lent an operatic flare with guest vocals from Lygia Travesty of Temple of Misery. The fairytale sweep of Lygia’s voice batters against a dark techno driven beat, resulting in a compelling marriage of traditional gothic elements and EBM." - DJ Jenn-0-cide
Apples of EveApples of Eve - Lygia has also just joined the project called "The Apples of Eve", a compilation CD of all female artists including kaRIN of Collide and Kristy of The Azoic.
