Louisiana rapper TeQuilla began rapping in middle school she would write and recite verses against boys at recess. Her older cousin Tom Cat decided he would work with her on her flows and taught her how to write bars. TeQuilla began performing at talent shows and with her high school band at halftime during games. Once she graduated from high school she felt she needed to get out of Clinton, Louisiana the small town she grew up in and relocated to Dallas, TX.
Once arriving in Dallas and looking for outlets for her music she recorded her first song with her cousin Daniel Ross who later became known as Beat Flippa. Her first full length recorded song was titled Watching Dat Ass. Tequilla ended up signing with an up and coming Dallas Label headed by Marcus Toussaint Boot N Tennis shoe Productions. Marcus was arrest for criminal activity and sent to Federal Prison. Over the next few years she found several studios in Dallas recorded a few songs for a Demo and began to network. During the time Louisiana artist were making a mark in the industry so she decided to move back to Louisiana and jump on the band wagon.
Once back in Louisiana Tequilla began recording with her cousin Beat Flippa, and Greg Dukes. She took the songs recorded and began to promote her music in Baton Rouge. Eventually she was being called to perform and open up for artist such as Mystical, Lil Boosie, Below and other artist from the surrounding area. Right at the point of her career taking off Tequilla became pregnant with her first child she decided she would pause her career to have her baby and start again once her son was older. She ended up relocating back to Dallas in the process. She contracted a promoter Rodney to come out to Dallas to get things going. He connected her with shows and this was a new start. She began performing all over Dallas gaining recognition for her style and music. She was then contacted by Bickerstaff Entertainment to perform at 2004 Bayou Classic. This performance was her first performance in front of a large crowd of 10,000 plus. Performing along with her was her partner in rapping Blaine Muse AKA Vaada. This was with a line up of several major artists at the time Gorilla Black, Slim Thug, Lil Wayne, Nivea, Franchise Boys and more.
Over the next two years Tequilla made a name for herself and was featured in Dallas Got Next Ozone magazine with another up and coming Female rapper Crystyle. Tequilla began to perform features on several Dallas artist albums such as Money Waters, Elite Star, and Mind Eye Productions. TeQuilla teamed up with Crystyle to record and release a mix tape together “The Introduction” released in 2006. That same year three songs were featured on DJ Princess Cut UGQ volume 1 and 2.
Tequilla has now completed her latest mix tape Axiom which means self-evident truth due to be released January 2010. Her latest releases from the mix tape making a buzz is a dance track titled “Wiggle” and a ballad “Call Me”. The track “Call Me is featured on the Coast2Coast mix tape “The Showcase Vol. 51”.Her official Debut album is due to be released in the latter part of 2010. Tequilla is her birth name but there are too many Tequilla’s in the industry so she has decided to go by her nick name TeQui. TeQuilla feels life is an experience and she has no regrets this is her testimony. So Lick the salt and have a Shot.
