Sunday, July 29th, 2007 Do you live in Phoenix and like my music? Do you live in Phoenix and like my music?
If you are reading this, I am assuming that you are a fan. Great!
If you are not, that's ok too. You don't have to like what I do to appreciate it.
I don't often ask for help. I try to be self as sufficient as I can, so here goes.
I need you to sell (talk about) my music to which ever club, etc, you feel will respond in a favorable way to letting me gig there. Ask them if they would book me? If they did book me, would you and several friends come to see me? They all want you to have a following, it's a business, I understand that.
All that I am really asking for is an opportunity to lay on the public something new, exciting and fresh.
As you know, I do aggressive and soft compositions. My 1 hour (or less) show is on the medium to intense side for the time being. It has been described as:
"a jazz/rock fusion sort of thing in the vein of Alan Holdsworth, Jan Hammer, Jean-Luc Ponty etc... listen to tracks “She Speaks” or “Seedz”... other influences include Rundgren, Zappa and Jeff Beck,"
My EPK is at: www.sonicbids.com/terrydaun (every bit of info you should need is here)
I am someone who does not take lightly the opportunities presented before me and those responsible for providing those opportunities.
Thank you.

Coming Fall 2009!Silk8 New instrumental soundscapes designed to take your head off!...then put it back on.TERRY DAUN Born in Wichita, Kansas, two days before Halloween, Terry has been around music since day one. His mother Helen sang and played the guitar and organ. She also performed her own songs in nightclubs in Phoenix during the 1960’s. As early as 10 years old, Terry started going out with his mother while she performed with the likes of Waylon Jennings and Marty Robbins. Terry began playing the organ as early as 3 years old, with guitar lessons beginning at 8. At age 11, the hottest sound around was “Wipe Out” by The Safaris. “A lot of kids got turned on to drums at that time, and I was one of them”, he states. His main professional influences were; Mitch Mitchell (Hendrix Experience), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), and as Terry would put it, the “greatest” Jazz/rock drummer ever, Ginger Baker (Cream). Even more important were the influences of friends and guitarists Micheal Brown and Bob Wyman. Micheal was into Hendrix and Bob was into Clapton. "I liked them both equally".Thanks goes out to guitarists Gibert Lopez and Lenny Traw for early inspiration as well (8th grade). "Many thanks must be given to John McKibben in 1971 for hauling us all around in his Chevy wagon, among other things". "Bassist and band leader Kevin O'Conner gave me my first paying gig at the Gaslight Lounge on Scottsdale Road in 1977. I learned alot from Kevin... ask Doug Beeman (guitar), he knows what I mean. Some of the bands in the Phoenix, Arizona area Terry has played drums with over the years are: Moments Notice with Scott Pidcock and Kevin Carpenter (guitars) and Tom Commiskey (bass). A working band covering top 40 and classics. The Penetrators with Micheal Brown, Tim Finn (Cold Shot and the Hurricane Horns) and Tim Greer on guitars. Awesome blues/rock band covering Allman Brothers, Hendrix, Cream, ZZ Top.Manic-N with (artist/writer/vocalist) Jeff Neugebauer (www.Jynkz.com) Dave Lloyd (guitar) and Jim Coleman (bass). All original modern rock. Voted Phoenix's "Hottest New Band" of 1985 by Soundboard Magazine. Recorded a four song cassette at the late great Pantheon Studios in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Actual cassete recordings can be heard at: www.myspace.com/manicnmusic Live videos can be seen at: www.youtube.com/terrydaun KATO with the amazing John Buck Kerlin on guitar www.theanarchyoftruth.com and equally amazing Rick Bogan (bass). We covered 17 Cream classics! check out the live videos of KATO in 1988 at Long Wongs in Tempe, Az. At: www.youtube.com/terrydaun Attitude Cat with Steve Bogart (bass) Jack Wolf (guitar) and Perry Fretz (vocals). Great working band covering top 40 and classic rock.In 1991, Terry started TMD Entertainment, a Karaoke / DJ company. In a sixteen year run ending in January 2007, Terry performed over 3600 shows in the Phoenix metro area... all without missing a single show.In December 2000 Terry joined forces with three old friends, John McKibben (guitar), Bob Wyman (bass), and Chris Karam (drums) to form White Noize, an original hard rock band in Tempe, Arizona. Terry began as Lead Vocalist, and soon added percussion and keyboards. “It is very possible that I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for the experiences I had in White Noize… and I thank John McKibben for that”. In time Terry wrote the lyrics to 8 of the bands 21 songs that can be heard at www.whitenoize.net White Noize broke up in December 2003. By the end of August 2004, Terry had written and recorded 17 songs on his own. This includes all of the instrumentation, as well as the backing vocals. "It was my first experience with a DAW and I barely knew what was going on. I titled the album "All Aspects" and wrote about all positive stuff".The songs can be heard at: www.hellochandler.com Terry's first "World Wide" release came in August 2006 with "Game On". An ambitious project containing 19 tracks. Eighteen pationate and insightful songs and one cooool instrumental called "A Walk In The Park". Terry created and produced the entire project himself. Buy Game On at: www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun or online at iTunes, Amazon, and many others for the small price of less than than a cup of coffee.Terry's next release "Taking Flight" in Febuary 2007 was all instrumental. Terry's fondness for Jeff Beck's style lent the inspiration for many of the 15 tracks. One track titled Logan Ran is inspired by the sci-fi classic Logan's Run. Lots of cool sounds swirling around make this a favorite of mine. Again, completely self-produced. Features Jose' Diaz playing lead guitar on TAX.Buy Taking Flight at:www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun2 or online at iTunes, Amazon, and many others for the small price of less than than second cup of coffee.Terry's third album "Dream Inducer" in July 2007. Another self-produced instrumental album, but with a theme this time. As Terry would say... "put the music on and take a nap". More cool sounds swirling around but with none of the heavy guitar like the previous album "Taking Flight". Buy Dream Inducer at:www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun3 or online at iTunes, Amazon, and many others for the small price of less than than a third cup of coffee. In October 2007, Terry performed on drums and keys with renouned guitarist Willie Oteri and his "Super Session" at the Brick House in Phoenix, Arizona. Included were: Stu Hamm (bass), Jerry Marotta (drums), Cat McLean (guitar), Jon Mulvey (guitar), Skinny Bishop (bass), Chris Michalek (harmonica), Jason Weidman (drums), and Greg Gonaway (drums). www.myspace.com/willieoteri In November 2007, at the TAXI Rally in Los Angeles, Terry and his guest (producer/composer) Ron Gallagher www.myspace.com/rongallagher ran into Peter Manno www.myspace.com/petermanno while wandering through the hotel lobby. Ron and Peter had worked together many years ago and hadn't seen each other since. "The three of us had a great night at Medieval Times" Terry recalls. Peter and Terry exchanged music and liked what they heard in each others work. Finding a producer with the musical skills of a GIT instructor, a previous touring top 40 guitarist, and studio skills and ears on par with Mutt Lange was a truly divine act for Terry. In January 2008, Peter and Terry began the first of, what was later to become, many months of of intense creation, learning, tracking and refinement. During the Summer of 2008, Terry worked briefly in Tucson with legendary guitarist/songwriter Michael Bruce of Alice Cooper. "It was so cool playing drums with the man who wrote so many great classics". In Febuary 2009, Terry and Peter Manno begin work on a catalog of the greatest covers ever and the creation of "55 Ludwigs". Stay tuned for more!Terry's next release "Silk" is due out in the Fall of 2009. Peter Manno adds his electrifing guitar skills to several of the total eight instrumental soundscapes.

Taking Flight (Released Feb. 2007) Fifteen psychedelic, experimental, progressive, fusion, rock and ambient instrumentals.
From Aural Innovations #36 (May 2007) He says his music is psychedelic... It’s mostly a jazz/rock fusion sort of thing in the vein of Alan Holdsworth, Jan Hammer, Jean-Luc Ponty etc. Just listen to tracks like “My Watch”, “She Speaks” or “Seedz”. Terry’s other influences include Rundgren, Zappa and Jeff Beck, for example. I do enjoy his more ambient pieces, though, and some of them are a bit psychedelic. A good example is the peaceful and hypnotic “Logan Ran” that is actually very enjoyable as well as the mystical “Not Far”. There is also a bit heavier stuff in there with some electric guitar. The bit darker “April” reminds me of Space Mirrors and is quite okay. “Tax” features a heavy guitar riff, sequences and a great guitar solo by a guy named Jose Diaz. “Psycho” begins in a minimal mood and has some exciting synth stuff to create a bit psychedelic atmosphere. Game On (Released Aug. 2006) 18 songs and a very cool and dreamy instrumental "A Walk In The Park" make up an assortment of psychedelic, progressive, and pop songs. This was my first "World Wide" release of music written, recorded, and produced by myself. Available at: www.cdbaby.com/cd/daun

Terry Daun “She Speaks” from the album "Taking Flight".
This track is an instrumental with a jazz feel. It is well layered... It has the feel of some of the older instrumental tracks I would imagine on bands such as Rush or Yes’ albums. It’s also pretty trippy, so give it a listen!
Kweevak.com review of Game On. 9/29/06 Terry Daun has been playing music in bands for decades and in more recent years he has been working as a solo artist. Game On features nineteen-tracks written and produced by Terry. Daun is a drummer but his main instrument of choice is a Korg Triton, which allows him to craft a broad range of sounds and styles. The CD is a blend of classic rock influences and experimental electronica with a dash of psychedelic and R&B thrown in for good measure. Terry’s songs feature a diverse range of textures and tempos. The opening track, ‘My Six Furry Friends’ is a creative carnival of images and tones. ‘Give A Little’ is an insightful rocker. Game On is an ambitious project demonstrating that Terry Daun continues to grow as an artist!* Recommended Tracks: (1,4) [USA/AZ 2006] (Review by Laura Turner Lynch for Kweevak.com)
Neu Futur (zine) Reviewed 08 November 2006 A positive thing that can be said about Daun at this point is that there is more than a small hint of Peter Gabriel in Daun’s vocal styling during “Clear Traffic Ahead”. One cannot claim that Daun is trying to rip them off; 19 tracks at 66 minutes give listeners an exhaustive description of eir musical style. “Give A Little” has Daun steal the practice tapes of Journey for the instrumentation of the track. The vocals fit interestingly during this track, but I think that the instrumentation is head and shoulders above any vocals that make their way onto this track. Daun is able to create a cohesive album through and though with “Game On”. While the tracks may never make it to the Billboard charts, there is a sort of fun, almost Atom and His Package meets David Hasslehoff sound to the output of Daun. Saying that, this is not a polished album, and individuals may be turned off by the roughness around the disc’s edges. Daun was able to get a collection of tracks out here that all share a slew of commonalities without the tracks rolling together. There is some commonality with artists like Steve Lieberman (and more so) Mizar, but Daun’s bread and butter is electronic and R&B music, for sure. I don’t know where Daun will go with future albums, but here’s to hoping that Daun can go forth and get a producer and engineer on staff that can provide different viewpoints about what would make the best approach. | Thursday, January 4th, 2007 Taking Flight by Terry Daun NOVEMBER 2006
"Taking Flight" (the album) is done musically. I have sent out a few test releases and I've been getting some excited responses. Of course, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. This album is all instrumental. There is some heavy guitar work and some mellower, spacy tunes as well. Everything was done using a Korg Triton Le, except for the cool giutar solo on "Tax", which was done by my good friend Jose' Diaz in Victoria, Texas.
Jose' contributed his guitar work as a token of friendship and generousity. Thanks buddy!
The music is a blend of synth sounds and traditional instruments.
There will be 15 tunes in all on the CD and will be priced at $8.97 on CdBaby in Feb. 2007
Taking Flight (in no particular order)
1) Seedz 4:17 I called it Seedz due to the early "influences" of Rundgren, Zappa, Jon Luc Ponty, Alan Holdsworth,
and Pink floyd, to name a few.
2) Tax 3:19 This is just one of my "heavies" included on the CD. Jose' Diaz does a great job on his guitar solo. This is a moderate, serious groove, heavy guitars and synth ROCKER!
3) Psycho 4:06 It's a pretty psycho tune for sure. I like the drum solos I did towards the end the most.
4) Wind Blown 3:52 This tune is cool! I really like this one. It has a nice groove and a cool ethnic flute lead running through the tune. Big brass sound and lots of solos.
5) She Speaks 2:58 Well, what can I say? After seeing Jeff Beck in Tempe in March '06, I went home and came up with sort of a tribute to Jeff and Jan Hammer. Guitar and synth leads.
6) Logan Ran 3:58 Inspired by of course one the greatest SciFi movies ever "Logan's Run". Lots of sounds!
7) April 3:44 I wrote this in April. Great tune to put on while driving up to Payson from Phoenix. (Actually, all of these are great for driving.)
8) Why Not 5:52 A little long for me? Yes, but it goes by painlessly. Sort of a serious, cool mood evoked. Not what I would call a "happy" tune.
9) Some Times 2:38 A cool little diddy I thought that I would stick in as filler.
10) My Watch 3:05 Oh yea! I want to do some more like this. Serious percussion happening here folks. Cool sax lead. Brass accompaniment.
Very little synth.
11) Taking Flight 3:28 A favorite of mine for awhile Written in 2005. A soaring tune with major synth activity. I named the CD "Taking Flight" because it depicts me finding my voice, which I believe is instrumentals.
12) Freight 3:41 Heavy guitars again. Lots of solos. Picture a train pulling out of the station. It picks up steam and eventually is at top speed heading through magestic mountainous valleys where it begins to arrive at it's next stop.
13) Not Far 3:32 Heavy synth production here. Very pretty tune, in my opinion. Thoughtful and possibly inspiring tune. I just love it.
14) Guitars 2:13 I liked the patch on the Korg and gave it try. I came up with this litte jam with acoustic guitars and synth accompaniment.
15) For Micheal 2:58 A fast two step beat jam with guitars and such. My long time friend Micheal provides the guitar feedback (originally recorded on 2 track in 1977) at the end.
Thank You. I hope that you go out and purchase Taking Flight for your next road trip.
Sincerely,
Terry.

| Thursday, November 9th, 2006 Review of "Game On" by Neu Futur (zine) (If you're interested.) Reviewed 08 November 2006
Terry Daun starts eir “Game On” with an interesting approach. A song
like “My Six Furry Friends” has an arrangement that is serviceable. However, there is a problem with
the vocals. Instead of meshing the vocals with the instrumentation on a track, the vocals are layered directly over the instrumentation. This has an effect that makes the track feel a
little too clunky. The fact that Daun has little in the way of a flow going during “Clear Traffic Ahead” keeps the disc from properly soaring.
A positive thing that can be said about Daun at this point is that there is more than a small hint of Peter Gabriel in Daun’s vocal styling during “Clear Traffic Ahead”. The first track that feels as if Terry Daun has something going for eir has to be “Will You Ever” . However, the extended length of the track puts a kibosh on the celebration; the
first few minutes are solid, but the second half of the track shows Daun spinning eir wheels at points.
One cannot claim that Daun is trying to rip them off; 19 tracks at 66 minutes give listeners an exhaustive description of eir musical style. “Give A Little” has Daun steal
the practice tapes of Journey for the
instrumentation of the track. The vocals fit interestingly during this track, but I think that the instrumentation is head and shoulders
above any vocals that make their way onto this track.

| Tuesday, August 29th, 2006 MP3 downloads vs. CDs I'd like to give my take on this trend.
I've been reading lately, how record stores and album sales are suffering due to the trend in downloads.
When I first started listening to music, an AM radio was just fine. I didn't need to have a stereo record player till later on. It was then I discovered the beginnings of Hi Fidelity. Eventually, I moved on from my record player with the speakers attached and bought some serious audiophile equipment in order to fully appreciate what was on the record.
I view this current trend as just that, a trend. MP3 downloads are compressed versions of the original. A three minute song as a wave file is around 35 megs. The same 256 cd quality MP3 will only be about 10 megs or so. Eventually... those who think that their MP3's sound so good will realize what they have been missing on the CD. Like me, they will re-discover sounds in old favorites that they never new existed.
MP3s are the AM radio version of my day. Some day they will discover that the Compact Disc rules the MP3 in audio fidelity.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time.

| Sunday, August 27th, 2006 TERRY DAUN ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE RELEASE OF GAME ON TERRY DAUN ANNOUNCES WORLDWIDE RELEASE OF GAME ON
Self-performed masterwork includes ten remixed and eight new tracks
PHOENIX, AZ Terry Daun, drummer, songwriter, vocalist, Master of the Korg Triton, announces the worldwide release of Game On, his latest work that melds remixed favorites with new material thats sure to please his fans. The album is available for sale on CD Baby.
Daun arranged, performed and produced the album at his My Furry Friends Studio, a first-time experience that surprised him with its intensity. The learning curve is steep, but its a real high when you lay down a single track that brings it all together, Daun says. Its like building a house. You can't always tell what you're going to have just by looking at the foundation. It is usually during the framing that you start to see where the house is going.
The album includes ten remixed tracks from his limited-release album Get Up (2004), the increasingly popular instrumental "A Walk In The Park," and eight new tracks including "It's King's I'm Talking About" and "Get Up."
Its a nice progression for a guy who spent a good part of his musical career playing a set of 1969 White Pearl Ludwigs. His performing career includes being a member of Moments Notice, The Penetrators, KATO (a Cream cover band), Attitude Cat, Is Not Is Too, Manic-N, and from 2001 to 2003 White Noize. He was the principal of TMD Entertainment, a Karaoke / DJ company he founded in 1991, until this past February, when he packed in the mike to devote his time to writing and recording.
I am still finding my place as a solo artist in this whole music thing; learning something new about the biz every day, he says. I think that we are at the forefront of a new age in the recording artsit could very well be the same as it was in the 1960s when the market was wide open for new and interesting talent.
Daun is one of those artists with the enviable ability to acquire knowledge, technique and inspiration from musicians and groups they admire, yet retain a unique sound. His list reads like the roster of the All-Rock-Jazz-Fusion team: Hendrix, Jean Luc Ponty, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa. All artists, to a man, willing to take the musical status quo and screw with itjust to watch the reaction.
He synthesizes his one-of-a-kind Daun sound by staying true to his musical roots. I prefer to let the instrumentation guide me into the words and story, he says. If I am going to write a song and not an instrumental, Ill arrange and construct the music in a song format. I can also write music from interpreting the words.
Daun said that as a drummer he grew accustomed to listening to instrumentation first. It wasn't till later in life that I began to really listen to what was being said, he added.
That made all the difference. As his new album gains momentum and airplay, the day is rapidly approaching when he can fulfill his ultimate musical dream. "Id like to have a full band performing my music with me out in front of thousands of screaming fans, he says. Hell, I would love to be out there even if it was by myself."
Terry Dauns new album, Game On, is slated for worldwide release in August 2006. The album contains eighteen moving and inspiring songs, including ten remixed tracks from his limited-release album Get Up and the increasingly popular instrumental "A Walk In The Park." Eight new tracks have been added, including the ever popular "It's King's I'm Talking About" and "Get Up." Game On is available on CD Baby.
