Biography of Leamon A. Moore a.k.a “The Wiz”
From the earliest days of his life it seems as though music would define the life of this young soul.
Music was always a way of expression in his family and growing up on the south side of Terrell Texas provided its own soundtrack. Influenced by his two sisters music collection of 70’s and 80’s music Leamon “Alphie” Moore developed a deep appreciation for the power of music and it’s ability to provide an escape from the harsh realities of life. At age 10 his father was found murdered, his body dumped inside a well outside Paris Texas. By age 13 Alphie had discovered hip-hop and began djing with family friend Dj Sco- Lo- D and started rhyming and writing songs as a way to deal with the loss of his father. After a series of family setbacks Alphie moved to Southern California with his sisters in 1986. He became involved in the fast life where the streets became his place of acceptance because of his musical gifts. Fast forward to the year 1991 Alphie moved back to Terrell to realize that the street life he is living has no future and falls back on his first love music. Being now influenced by 2 pac, Dr. Dre and groups like UGK Alphie began writing rhymes about his personal experiences and his communities situations. After the murder or a close friend “Adrian Walker’” Alphie moved to Austin Texas to pursue a career in music. After completing a 9 month series of audio engineering courses at Austin Community College Alphie began recording and producing music for local groups in Austin. People who witnessed Alphie work in the studio were amazed at how quickly he could assemble a track and put songs together thus came the name “The Wiz”. In 1998 Wiz produced a string of local radio favorites for various groups like Black and Dangerous “In Texas We Ball” , Flo-Mob’s “Is It Good To Ya?” and Latin artist M.V.P’s single “Bangin”. These songs were featured on Kazi 88.7 on the hit countdown show “Texas Artist Top 40 “were they placed among the top 10 for some 15 consecutive weeks beating out the likes of Scarface, Slim Thug and other top Texas artists. After touring and performing with the likes of Too Short, Lil Troy, Scarface and others Wiz left Austin in 2001 for the nation’s capital to broaden his horizons. Wiz began working with longtime friend Karl Orts to establish On Tha Real Magazine as one of the hottest southern based underground publications in circulation. Soon he was networking and becoming a familiar face at all the Dc nightclubs V.i.p, Platinum and began getting features on mix tapes by Dj Chubb. There Wiz built a power network of industry contacts from the likes of Kenny Burns (Roc music) Capitol Gainz , Blyss to the world renowned Dj Trini (Wkys 93.9). Wiz also began collecting equipment to establish his own recording studio and established his own Production Company Big Toe Productions. After 3 years of up north exposure Wiz decided to return to his southern roots and move to Atlanta Ga. Now he has come full circle where age, experience and exposure to various cultures and music styles make this Artist/Producer/Engineer one to watch or better yet “One to listen for”!
