Formed in December 1979 in the sprawling metropolis of Brantham, The Threat have been around (on and off) for 24 odd years! The first gig was in 1981 at a party in Raydon in an old chicken shed!. The next gig of note being in June 1982 at The Manor Ballroom in Ipswich supporting THE ADICTS and ACTION PACT.
That same year we put on some gigs at our own venue "The Turban and Suspender" Club, An illegal squat in an old wartime hangar on Raydon airfield and played regularly at Nightmares punk club at Murrayside in Ipswich.
In 1989 we recorded our first "studio" demo "Heinkel Time" at Hayloft Studios and was busy gigging throughout 1990-1992. After this period we only played the odd gig due to other commitments and total apathy! We played the last show in October 1996 at The Brewers Arms in Polstead with Red Flag 77 .
In March 2002 , sitting round a camp fire in deepest Hintlesham ,three drunken bums decided it was time to go back on the road . So recruiting Drew Blood on Guitar we set out to record a new album" Music for The Drunk" which was recorded at garden studios in lexden and released in august 2002 on our own "alternative burger" label. We have been doing some superb gigs, mainly in Ipswich, but also in Canturbury, Retford , leicester and Mersea Island to name but a few!
The live shows are usually a chaotic affair, in the true sense of Punk, with any notion of a setlist or planning thrown out of the window and half the crowd on stage with us by the end of the gig!
In 2005 we said goodbye to long serving drummer Slim Jim and said hello to young powerhouse Felix "The Cat". We are now back up to full strength and are arranging numerous gigs to see us through the year, as well as working on some new material, hopefully for a new album later this year.
