Thursday, the band that stems from New Brunswick, New Jersey, was formed in 1998 by long time friends Geoff Rickly (vocals), Tom Keely (guitar), Steve Pedulla (guitar), Tim Payne (bass), and Tucker Rule (drums). The group toured around their home town and began getting a fairly large local fan base. They toured with indie bands, At the Drive-In and Boy Sets Fire. In 1999, they signed a contract with New York’s Eyeball Records. In 1999, Thursday released their debut album, Waiting. In the Spring of 2001, the group released Full Collapse. At first, the album did not get a lot of publicity nor did the band. Their live shows, however, attracted so much attention that Thursday ended up selling 250,000 domestic copies of Full Collapse. In 2002, the group went on the Warped Tour. Their single, “Understanding in a Car crash,” got lots of attention and air play from MTV2. The band soon switched labels and signed to island records. In 2002, they released Five Stories Falling. In 2003, Thursday released War All The Time.
