The Toadies formed in 1990 in Fort Worth, Texas. They began by taking it step by step through the \"grunge-punk\" revival of the early 1990\'s by handing out demos and playing shows around the area. In 1993, the bands single \'Pleather\' was picked up by Grass/Interscope and then in 1995 the band hit it big with their single \"Possum Kingdom\" from their debut album \"Rubberneck\'. The band was popular for a while but then the band basically vanished. Todd Lewis (vocals), Darrell Herbert (guitar), Mark Reznicek (drums), and Lisa Umbarger (bass) decided to take a break during this time. Darrell Herbert left late in 1999 and was replaced by Clark Vogeler. In 2001, the band had a brand new sound to them and released their second album (nearly 6 years after their first) \'Hell Below Stars Above\'. But, before the years end, the band split up. In fall of 2002, \'Best of the Toadies: Live From Paradise\' was released and officially marked the end of the alternative rock four-piece.
