| A chance meeting at Loughborough University led to Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley forming their duo. Playing an aromatic hotpot of English Folk, Americana and Blues coupled with Gren's distinctive own compositions, this is their debut album and with a busy festival schedule, the future looks bright. A BBC Young Folk Award finalist 2003, Tom Kitching plays fiddle with a unique flair, adding depth and context to material, drawing on his broad command of styles. Gren Bartley is simply a superstar of the finger style guitar in the making. Leaving audiences flabbergasted with the speed and control of his picking, the sensitivity and variety of his music. He is also a songwriter with a very distinctive sound. Together, there’s quite a chemistry and they are rapidly building up a following through their live performances. Tom and Gren are represented by Emerging Music who did so much to promote Nancy Kerr & James Fagan and Spiers & Boden. Already this year they have played Middlewich, Brampton Live and Warwick Festivals. They are new names, but that is a situation which could change very soon. |
