The Transplants we're formed in 1999 by Rob Aston and Tim Armstrong of Rancid. Rob had just moved to Los Angeles and was hanging out with Tim, who played him this beat he had created on the Pro Tools System in his studio. Rob loved it, and Tim asked if Rob could write lyrics to it. He agreed without hesitation. Rob was a little scared due to the fact that he had never been in a band before, much less one with someone as prominent as Tim Armstrong who was the frontman of Rancid.
They recorded when ever they found time but couldn't help but feel that something was missing. Tim had played all the instruments so far and all the drum beats we're samples and loops. Long story short they needed a drummer. So they called up blink-182 and Boxcar Racer drummer Travis Barker. Without hearing a single song, Travis agreed and headed over to the studio. In just five hours Travis had recorded the drum parts needed for the albums completion. And the three of them had a record they we're proud of.
